Denny's has permanently closed its location in Oakland, California after 54 years citing safety concerns for its employees.

The decision was made due to the high crime rate in the city.

While the closure was not taken lightly, the well-being of the team members and valued guests was prioritized.

Denny's still retains its Bay Area location in Emeryville, California.

This closure comes after In-N-Out announced the closure of its Oakland location in March for similar reasons, marking the first time the chain has had to close a restaurant in its 75-year history.

Local leaders and civil rights activists are blaming the city's policies for these closures.
