How much do oil refineries make on a gallon of gas?
About $0.05/gallon is profit for refineries turning that crude oil into gasoline.
That's the ExxonMobil and Shell companies of the world as well.
The retailers (including distributors and marketers) on average made about $0.04/gallon in profit.
California Energy Commission says oil companies made 14 cents profit per gallon of gasoline in July 2023

The chart clearly shows that every state, except Alaska, makes more money from the sale of a gallon of gas then the oil company, who produces the gas, makes. The federal government makes more also. If you need help reading or understanding the chart please get some.

Federal tax is 18.4 cents per gallon
Lowest state tax is 8.95 cents per gallon in Alaska.
Most exorbitant tax is Pennsylvania at 57.6 cents per gallon.

Yet you think oil companies are gouging us.

I don't keep quoting California.
It is a one-time assessment from the California Energy Commission on oil company gasoline profit.
If you want high-quality gas at a reasonable price apply for a Costco membership.
My last fillup was $2.84 for premium fuel.
Miami Retail Premium Gas Price is at a current level of $3.854.

The government produces nothing (except laws that we have to follow but politicians don't, markets nothing and collects millions from consumers. MAGA lies is getting old as you refuse to provide any they have told.
