Yes, I spent 3 years learning to prove mathemacially that Murphy was an optimist...
I just found this site. As I am self-employed, my visits will be on a "copious free time" basis. I started out as a tool & die machinist and then backed into mechanical & manufacturing design & engineering. I have worked on several of the seminal projects of recent decades and bring a perspective that is often missing from "official party line" mythology that is passed off as history.
As somebody who has worked in the R&D fields for nearly four decades, I know quite thoroughly that private investment does not develop new technologies -- only taxpayer investment does that! I was a member of the team that developed the Computer Aided Theodolite (now called the Total Survey Station) that nearly every surveyor uses. It was developed to align antennae on AWACS aircraft. (Etc.) I get upset when the mythology is passed off as true history -- especially when it is a myth covering over a project upon which I worked!
