Eric Sandmann - Nathan Phillips Confrontation, Five Years Later

This weekend will be the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. It’s been five years since the infamous confrontation between Eric Sandmann & Nathan Phillips at the Lincoln Memorial.

Sandmann & his fellow Covington Catholic High School students had attended the March when Nathan Phillips came out of his group of Indigenous People’s Marchers and stood face-to-face with Sandmann, beating on his drum for a few minutes. Phillips later said that he was trying to defuse what he thought was emerging violence. Sandman seemed to be simply confused, just standing still trying to make sense of the entire matter. Another group calling themselves Black Hebrew Israelites, who are considered anti-Semitic, peripherally joined in. Much of it was caught on multiple cameras and were covered on news channels for weeks.

Progressives across the country joined howled & wailed about the bigotry that had to be in the hearts of Sandmann & so many of those students, several of whom wore MAGA hats. One progressive opined wrote that he would have liked to have punched Sandmann in the nose. Sandmann was vilified by liberal media. For his part, Sandmann & his parents decided to sue some news outlets and actually won awards but I have no knowledge of whether he has collected any funds.

My opinion is that Sandmann was a nice kid who had the misfortune & audacity of being Catholic & pro-life. Phillips may have been trying to de-escalate things but the videos are not confirmatory, one way or the other.

Take home message it that hell hath no fury like liberals scorned. They are not nice people and will use anything to tarnish conservatives.

Yes, I know. The media hysteria was unacceptable & inexcusable.
