Sorry, I have an advanced degree and could not do that without a calculator. My CPA father and a thrice a week tutor barely got me through my math requirements. My brain simply fails all math. If I have to handle any numeric situations, I will check myself at least three times I am that poor at numbers. On the other side, writing, grammar, etc. is like kindergarten to me.

Liars figure and figures don’t lie is the old saying.

But you're not out there serving the public.
I was put in charge to tutor our wrestling team in High School, So they could get passing grades in Algebra.

I was lucky one year. The math teacher I had understood my total lack of ability and allowed me to use my figures to figure problems out. I still only received a piddling B and that was a close call.

It sounds like you had a great teacher.
I owned a machine shop so a lot of math was involved daily.
The good thing was that it was all simple mathematical problems.

Her attitude was outside her classroom I could/would use my fingers why not allow me the thing to help me succeed, which YES, made her a great teacher.

So am I I took basic math all through high school and as soon as I hit fractions as my teacher said I hit a brick wall he told me he didnt know how to help me get beyound that point. Years later the concept of 1/2, 1/4 ,1*6 on a pie chart I was like OH thats what he was telling me that's fractions. talk about feeling slow only took me till I was in my 20's for it to click still not good but with computers and such I'm better and my sons always came in handy they are all good with math God does provide
