Addendum to the SecDef Story

When the Pentagon finally notified the public SecDef Austin was hospitalized, they stated his Deputy SecDef was in charge.

One has to wonder how said person was in charge when said person was on vacation.

The they can use teleconferencing does not really work considering the extremely serious military situations currently occurring.

Considering the fact that they're not really dealing with those serious military situations what difference does it make? Austin is useless whether in or out of the office.

This AM, Fox News reported the timeline that he'd had a minor, unspecified, surgery before Christmas, (the 22?). He entered Walter Reed on January 1 for complications. Biden and an undersecretary of the Defense did not find out about it until January 4. Now, both Democrats and Republicans are asking a lot of questions.

My questions revolve around his hospitalization at Walter Reed. It is one of the most famous hospitals in the world and certainly the most famous military hospital in the world. As an Army hospital, it is under the executive department, the president. How is it possible that nobody notified the White House or did somebody?

Also, what was the procedure and what were his diagnoses on December 22 & January 1. None of the staff, physician or otherwise) mentioned it to higher ups for three days or for thirteen days?

Am I missing something here?

Fox News reports the timeline that he had a minor,... (show quote)

They, probably, assumed Austin or someone in the SecDef or Pentagon had notified the White House. Notice I did not say Biden. It is highly unlikely he even remembers who Austinis or what his position is.

I think that falls under HIPPA and unlikely to be revealed.

The behavior and poor communications around Secretary Austin was unacceptable. It is a good thing nothing happens between Christmas and early January.
Walter Reed is under the Dept of Defense, as is Bethesda Naval Hospital and the VA.

Bethesda Naval is now Walter Reed. They closed the old Walter Reed due to serious deteriorating conditions. I am appalled they let some construction company tear down historic architectural buildings and slap up trendy condos. Admitted some buildings were not restorative; however, several were.

Oh, fyi, for those of us who live in the metropolitan area, it remains Bethesda Naval in conversation.

Whats scary he told them to keep it quiet. Wonder why if this is so he didn't want the commander and chief to know(perhaps so he couldn't screw something else up???)

I can tell you from personal experience that when it comes to well known people, that there would be leaks. Personnel discuss patient's & the walls have ears.

That may be true; however, medical personnel, at military facilities, understand their career path would come to a screaming screeching halt if they participated in such gossip.
