Armstrong = false teacher and false prophet.
His many t***hs are overshadowed by p***eful proclamations. Be careful

I used to, inadvertently, listen to Herbert W. Armstrong's "The World Tomorrow" broadcasts in NYC.

It has long been accepted that Jesus was not born on December 25 or in December or even in deepest winter. The calculations I have read left with the impression that He was born sometime in February-April and everyone accepts that it was sometime between what we otherwise call 3-6 B.C. The error stems from an entry made by a medieval monk and the fact that record keeping was terrible throughout history until very recently.

This is a pagan holiday and an a*********n to the almighty.
Deuteronomy 12:30-31

take heed to yourself that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, ‘How did these nations serve their gods? I also will do likewise.’ 31 You shall not worship the Lord your God in that way; for every a*********n to the Lord which He h**es they have done to their gods; for they burn even their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.

It's true that Jesus was born sometime in the Spring when the sheep were out in the field. We can thank the Roman Catholic Church who decreed the Birth of Christ to be held the same time of the Pagan holiday Saturnalia in order to convert the Pagans over to Catholicism and continued many of the Pagan customs that we see today.

The history of the choice that I learned is far more benign. The pope chose Saturnalia because the people would be in Rome anyway and they figured that would be less inconvenient for them because they'd not have to travel twice.

What is false about his teachings. He backs them up with scriptures and in his days the encyclopedias.

When I listened Herbert W. Armstrong, as a twelve & thirteen year old, I remembered thinking, is this guy kidding? I immediately equated him with some of the AM radio hustlers who had their store front churches and offered listeners salvation through donations. An infamous one, as I recall, was a Reverend Ike who said, "Send me a fin & I'll get you in."

Armstrong broadcast his syndicated program throughout the US and if you listened to Top 40 stations, as most of us did at the time, there was no avoiding his The World Tomorrow. He built himself an empire with himself as the emperor. After he died, there as quite a bot of squabbling over the remnants.

I skim read this and will likely read it again, this time more attentively but from what I could see, his the facts are true and have been known but, he presents them as some kind of investigatory alert to all to discredit organizations that didn't acknowledge him as some kind of prophet, telling us to repent.

That could be plausible as well. I won't argue about it as I celebrate the December 25 date as many other Christians do.
Merry Christmas and a Healthy, Happy New Year to you and your family.
