My wife and I were born and raised in a small town just south of St Louis. We have a little place out of Festus, Mo. About 26 acres. We love it. As a child, My fammily took a two week vacation and didn't get out of the state. Misery has much to offer. Only problem is the weather, but we have a slogan: "If you don't like the weather, wait an hour and it will change."

My Best friend in Jr. High and High school was a guy named Dennis Hicks, he had several brother David, Ron, anyway he would move o Minn. just before winter (Ice Fishing?) and he called every new years to tell me the temp, I can't fathom 40 below...

I last heard from him right after I got sober, his last wife real pretty gal Paulette was a good match for him, they laughed a lot... Don D.

What a nice story Don....I lived in Mn and can attest to that 40 below weather..So cold you don't dare be out in it more than a minute or risk of health...And you don't want to be out in at all.....lol...Ice fishing, only did that once, and for a very good reason~~you freeze....lololol..

Wrong Marvin. The US Constitution empowers Congress to write laws to specifically support the enumerated powers. Not the preamble. The Constitution is quite specific about it.

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defense and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To borrow on the credit of the United States;

To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

To establish a uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;

To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;

To provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States;

To establish Post Offices and Post Roads;

To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries;

To constitute Tribunals inferior to the supreme Court;

To define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offenses against the Law of Nations;

To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;

To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;

To provide and maintain a Navy;

To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;

To provide for calling forth the M*****a to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress I**********ns and repel Invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the M*****a, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the M*****a according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

They say the same thing in Oklahoma, where I arrived to attend horse shoeing school in January of '88. At that time it was already OK's coldest winter on record ! Meanwhile,back in Phoenix, it reached 85 degrees under cloudless blue skies. I actually, honestly thought I'd never see home again! :thumbup: :twisted: :thumbup: :twisted: :thumbup:

If you buy into the m*****a argument, anyone who registered for selective service at age 18 is, by definition, is a member of a well regulated m*****a. Since any citizen can, at the discretion of the government, be called into service at any time, all citizens are, by definition, members of a well regulated m*****a.

Remember, is it the 10th amendment?, that states the enumeration in the Constitution of these "inalienable rights" does not mean there are not also other rights that government can not take away from us.
