WASHINGTON — Private-sector job growth accelerated in December with U.S. businesses adding 241,000 net new jobs, payroll firm Automatic Data Processing said Wednesday.

The figure was an increase from 227,000 in November, which was revised up from an initial estimate of 208,000.

Economists had forecast December job growth to be 235,000.

“The job market continues to power forward,” said Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody’s Analytics, which assists ADP in preparing the report.

The ADP data is watched closely as a harbinger of the Labor Department’s jobs report, which covers private- and public-sector hiring and is scheduled to be released Friday.

Economists expect that report to show job growth slowed in December to 245,000 after a surprisingly strong November in which payrolls expanded by 321,000.

If they’re close to correct, December would be the 11th straight month the economy added more than 200,000 net new jobs

The unemployment rate is forecast to have ticked down to 5.7% last month, which would be the lowest since mid-2008.

ADP said there were broad-based job gains in December.

Manufacturers increased their payrolls by 26,000, up from 16,000 in November.

Another high-paying job sector, construction, increased its hiring as well.

Firms added 23,000 net new jobs in December, compared with 20,000 the previous month.

The service sector also boosted its hiring, adding 194,000 net new jobs after a 187,000 increase in November.

The US needs to add an average of 250,000 new jobs each month to generate enough new payroll taxes to cover the new interest payments on the National Debt Obama adds each year.

Let me know when we get there.

The US needs 250,000 new jobs added every month just to add enough new revenue to the Treasury to cover the interest (only) payments on the new (and only new) debt Obama is adding to the National Debt.

Let me know when we get there.

Oh, and when interest rates go above 4% which they almost certainly will, we'll need more than 500,000 new jobs each month to cover the interest payments on Obama's debts.

I guess your degree in "Rocket Science" didn't cover economics 101.

Don't get me wrong. I'm glad that it's starting to slowly get better.

Any fool can see it's taken about 4-5 years longer to get to this point than it would have taken under Bush or any other President that preferred Americans to be off of welfare and at work.

Hahaha.

Have you noticed that when a knee-jerk liberal is confronted with proof of his/her/it's ignorance they almost always double down on stupid to avoid admitting their own errors?

Necessity is the mother of invention. Automation was necessary because PEOPLE were less efficient, thanks in large part by the government sanctioned union monopoly on PEOPLE that used to build cars.

Fax machines were invented in large part because of the Postal Union's lack of efficiency.

So, in the long run... Unions and Democrats that support them do manage to have unseen benefits to their corruption.

If you were only "right" that would make it effective too,, but you of course are you,,, and a liberal,,, so neither is likely based on past and present performance of the gelatinous muck you affectionately call brains....
