This past summer, my friend and I joined two other golfers for round. As we approached the 11 th green, that was next to the road, a funeral went by. One of the other golfer's stopped and stood with his head held low and his hand on his heart. I asked why he did that. He said "out of respect, I was married to her for 42 years"

Profanity doesn't have an effect on the flight of the ball but it should have an effect on the name of the game. During a round of golf, invariably one or more of us, after hitting an unwelcomed shot , will shout "OH S**T". So I think that this should be a prelude to a name change for the game. What do you think.

I tend to agree, but that was answered somewhat by Raymond Floyd in an above quote. All the other 4-letter words were taken :!:

"We learn so many things from golf...how to suffer, for instance." [quote/BruceLansky]

I'm not sure why I rented carts. Where my ball would usually end up the cart couldn't get to. But it did come in handy to carry the cooler and required twelve pack. That was usually enough for the front nine.

I heard about a group one time and some guy had his ball land and stay on the cart path. Well of course he was going to take a drop on the turf but one guy (drunk of course) gave him hell and told him he had to play it where it lay. So he goes over to a cart and gets a three wood. He takes a few practice swings catching the head of the club on the concrete each time. The other guy yells at him and asks if he's nuts. The guy with the club says "Not at all. I got the club out of your bag."

  I was in a foursome one time and conditions were miserable. It was winter and we had a good bit of rain the last couple of days. Three of us were regulars as far as playing together and we were loose with the rules. So my balls in a mud hole and this guy pulls up and says "It's OK to move it, we'll play winter rules." I told him to play by wh**ever rules he wanted to, I was playing by my own rules. If he wanted to play seriously he should have found another group.

I always found it amazing how seriously some took the game. I play with a Lee Trevino attitude...have some fun.

"Golf is the most fun a guy can have with his clothes on!" Paraphrasing Chi Chi Rodriguez.

I always thought it was a great excuse to get out with the guys and drink beer while the wife was at church. Might have something to do with the fact I'm divorced for the second time.
