No and yes
No not dismissing the old testament it is the history of people's and the nations they became.
The commandments the original law.
Yes Jesus to me was more than a prophet.
He was the son of God.
As such, he said when speaking of the commandments that the greatest of these is Love. If we love we will not break covenant and or the commandments.
So in thinking about this. I found it to be true and a thread of t***h I could hold onto when things seem muddled.
When we really love someone we don't want their stuff. So because we love them we are kept from coveting them and their things. If you love someone you won't speak unt***hs or false witness against them.
When we love someone we even if say our child / sister / brother/ mother / father were to attack us let's say blacken our eye.
We would not necessarily be compelled to retaliate with the proverbial eye for an eye.
So for me this one tiny t***h Love first then apply biblical old and new testament law principles parables helps me to deal with mankind laws.
For years I have struggled with the health laws ,food laws , of the old testament and many Christians believe as followers of Christ we are as Paul wrote in one of his epistles or letters free from them. I am unsure as #1 I love bacon selfish on the other hand pigs do not sweat and thus impurities are highly concentrated in their fat. Hmmm. T***h is unchanging. What changed? It is written that those who consume pig are as a foul odor( in my mind Repugnant , causes to stand off away or apart from odor) to our Lord. #2 catfish I love catfish this is also unclean. #3 sour cream and meats like Mexican food YUM, I really like to mix my dairy and meat. Not acceptable practice if applying diet practices of say Daniel.
I am far from perfect. I probably have not explained this very well. But again yes I suppose I do separate the old and new testament. Please do not follow my path do go directly to the Bible.
I hope I have not offended or stumbled you.
No and yes br No not dismissing the old testament ... (show quote)

You have not offended me.

Do you believe both parts of the Bible are historically accurate?

Do you believe the Bible, both or either half, reveals the laws humans should live by/

I attended an evangelical boarding school and we read and studied the Bible in lengthy, daily sessions. I find some morals and behaviors accepted in the Bible to be terrible like stoning to death women who are not virgins on their wedding night and I find some morals to be beautiful like the words of Jesus - feed the hungry shelter the homeless and tend to the sick.

From your comment, should I come to the conclusion that you have read the aforementioned book, or is your response just because it doesn't agree with the theory of evolution?
You can conclude, accurately, that I have not read the book. However, you are not correct in in your conclusion, assumption that I haven't read it because it may say something with which I disagree.
