Classics ? Give me examples. I believe we are shaped by our reading. I am curious how both of us could be such serious readers and still have such opposite views of the world. My father had a lot of sci fi and fantasy adventure paper back books that I read when I was in my teens.
I primarily consumed European history. What ever the various libraries I found myself in, had laying around I would read. One Library had a set of European research books that covered histories from the 15th century through the modern era. Very dry reading, but I liked it. I have forgotten most of it, but I still retain a sense of what was going during certain centuries and in various countries. I at least know where to look up what ever I have forgotten when I get into arguments with other learned folks such as yourself.
