today is of course the first day of deer season in Minnesota, and of course the woods are filled with wannabe h****rs and the usual regulars.. Now my wonderful dog, who likes nothing better than a warm spot in the house has made up his mind to meet and greet every single person with a bright orange coat on.. I just let him out for the first time today, he has whined and cried most of the day.. so did he do any business? Heck no, he scoped out the motor home some new guy put in the woods about a football toss in the woods right across from my front door.. that is OK, he bought the land last summer... so my silly dog just has to meet him again and he went from my front door to the forest trail, the camper trailer, back to the trail and off to points unknown... I do hope his brown color does not make some eager dork think he is related to bambi and he ends up as a trophy... darn dog.. I will have to tether him in place for 2 weeks if he makes it back home.. darn, I miss him already..

He looks like no deer I have ever seen, but I just do not trust the happy gunners who have come up for the season...
He looks like no deer I have ever seen, but I just...

What kind of dog is that? Love the looks. Would be a pity if some eager h****r got a shot at him.

Mr. Counselor, the man loves his dog. That is one redeeming quality for him in my mind.

The dog he has chosen is one of the very high energy types, and needs a lot of work to maintain sanity.

The Belgian Malonioa.

One thing for certain, it 'is' a beautiful specimen.

And I'm sure the Goober loves his dog.

But that don't change my opinion on the fact that the poor dog has got himself a truly dumb ass owner.

Look down a couple of posts.. Archie is correct, the dog is a Belgian Malinois.. Terrific dog,, very athletic and love to show off.. but got beat up by one of our cats.. But in his defense, it was a mother cat afraid he would hurt her babies..

I don't disagree at all, sir.
I'm just giving credit where credit is due.

A great dog breed if you have the time, and energy to train them, and keep them busy.
I would love to have one, but I would be doing it a great disservice, because I don't have the time to work with such a high energy, mission focused dog.

I asked Mrs. B. the other evening what we are gonna do when our bulldog, Ruger has to go. What will be next?
I'm thinking Basset Hound. Love those dogs!
Either way, I hope the next one outlives me.
It's too painful to lose them, but, I'll always have a dog.

I hope yours comes home safe, Permi!!

Hope he gets home safe, Perm. Even if no one mistakes him for a deer, I've seen people do stupid things.....like shooting dogs for 'scaring off' the deer. Like a gun shot won't have the same effect.

Definitely tie him up. Heโ€™ll be following the neighbor every day until he canโ€™t come home.
