After the mass slaughter in Main Mike Johnson was asked if he would introduce legislation directed at gun violence. His answer was...we should pray on it. So Aunti, have all those prayers been directed to a solution or have they been used as a means to deflect from the real problem...our arsenal of semi-automatic weapons we think we need for our "protection"?

Prayers aren't nice AuntiE, especially when the only reason you use them is to hide from the t***h...as if the t***h was so hard for the rest of us to figure out...

Supporting several soup kitchens, pantries, plus donating for clothing for the homeless and providing two full-ride scholarships to New Mexico State, and one to UNM for education...UNM is partially funded by my mother's estate. My wife has set up a scholarship program at her college that her AP and mentorship students compete for. She continued to teach instead of retiring so she could dev**e her salary to that end.

Then of course we v**e Democrat. We used to v**e for the 'best candidate' but you cons have moved so far to the right that 'best' anymore, is anyone who isn't a far right-wing conservative. That leaves only Democrats to v**e for.

Oh, I think what he was talking about is our using "prayer" as a means to deflect from the actual problems we face. Like, when Mike Johnson was asked if there would any any legislation targeting gun violence he said,(to paraphrase) Well we should pray on that first. How long have politicians been praying about the gun violence in our country instead of trying to tackle the problem? We, and I include anyone who prays, as a means to deflect from the problems we face without trying to find an actual solution. No, whoever wrote that meme knows exactly what prayers are and how and why we use them, and never ever is the intent so we might use them to find a solution to wh**ever our ailment is. Like the meme says, they pass the buck to an imaginary being which only ensures that the (our) problem persists!

You are talking apples and oranges. In the United States, there is a very high percentage of people who think that the only solution to gun violence is to have more guns and be more violent.

Now I have never been to China so I can't speak to what goes on as a nation but if you only had one shooting it's because the Chinese people don't have the same propensity towards violence as a solution as do Americans...plus I have a feeling that the retribution of the government will be much more severe there than what we have here. In the US, we have a large propensity of people who think that the more people who are armed the safer we will be. I would bet that we probably have more people with guns today than in our modern history yet this proclivity of guns has only made us more violent...not less.

Of course, much of this has to do with mentally unstable people having access to weapons of all types but until there is some kind of will amongst Republicans to do something about the problem in this country, there is nothing that will ever get done. Of course, that goes for any and all enforcement too.
