Can we please have a rational discussion?

Ok. let me start with a couple of ground rules.

Rule 1. Please don't mention republican or Democrat. List the people's name you are referring to.

Rule 2. Please don't name call the people who post here or the people you talk about. It is just low class.

Rule 3. If you are making a statement, please have specific facts to back up what you are saying. If it is your opinion, then state it as such.

With that established, (& hopefully adhered to), I would like to start with what has happened to America? When the government is fighting itself, where does that benefit the people? With prices for everything skyrocketing, why are we sending billions to help foreign countries? Where does it end? When political candidates attack each other rather than telling us how they are going to make things better for the people, why would we continue to choose the same people to represent us?

Black, White, Red, Yellow... none of that matters. We are all American. I believe it is time that we remembered that. To the potential people that attack me on this post, feel free. You are entitled to your opinion. I would fiercely defend your right to have it, even if I disagree with it. To me that is one of the principals of America. You are welcome to think wh**ever you want. You are welcome to express that thought. As long as you realize at the same time you are responsible for your words & actions.

Accountability is something we have lost recently in my opinion. Show me any of our current politicians that is actually accountable for what they have done. While at it, can you please tell me what any of the recent administration's have done that actually benefited the people they are supposed to represent?

Thank you for your time & consideration in this.

Unless you are the Second Coming, you have huge balls stepping into ANY group engaged in ongoing discourse, and laying down your "rules"
Good luck...

First Ssitha welcome to Opp I haven't been a contributor here for very long myself going on 2 months I think. This is my opinion I agree with your views stated. I just retired from the AF in Dec 2022 after 30yrs. First off the idea that our military is unfit and woke that is is the view of many here on the right and that is wrong. I also agree with you that accountability is lacking from ALL our elected reps in my opinion. I also have faith in the future of our children. My twin daughters turn 18 in Feb 2024 and can't wait to register and v**e. They have both done their own research on issues and candidates. Another issue that is not excepted by many here is that Pres Biden is a total failure and the worst POTUS in history. I personally don't think he is the worst. Yes I think he should not run but an incumbent is very hard to oust. This does not mean I will v**e for him my mind is not made up as it is still more than a year away for the e******n. However campaigning does begin in the new year. Another hot button issue here is the border crisis and I do agree there is a problem that needs addressing but until the HOR has chosen a speaker nothing can or will be done. My opinion on this is they need to go ahead and approve the Speaker pro tem as the Permanent choice. Then some progress can be made on agenda. There are other hot button issues for too many here Wokeness, Run Away Spending, L***Q Reognition, Our failing public schools due to what many believe are Marxists educators in both college and public schools. Which I think is also an exaggeration again this is my opinion. Too many here see nothing but disaster in our future and that is sad. I also have other views on subjects that I will discuss privately because they lead to name calling, and imature replys IMO. I am currently working on my MA in History at Univ.South Alabama in Mobile where my wife is from. matter of fact I just had my last class for the day when I saw your post. Now as far as rational discussion here that may be an obstacle. I am a liberal and very few of us who are not extreme left seem to be here. There is definitely a number of posters here who are very left and many more who are conservative and more to the right but they take offense to being referred to as such. IMO from the posts I read daily. Well welcome to the "Entity that is OPP and I look forward to your ideas and posts any time.

As I am responsible for my words, may I gently suggest your thread is quite broad. Mayhaps you should select a single topic, for accountability, to pursue.

Au contraire. There have been some. It often depends on how a topic is presented.

What has happened to America has been on going for many years. We were warned time and again to beware of the military industrial complex. Kennedy alluded to a shadow government at odds with America's principles. We didn't heed the warnings, too caught up in our own concerns never believing America could ever be less then the greatest nation on the planet. With the most freedoms , least corruption and fairest laws, We didn't need to concern ourselves with politics on a daily basis . Thinking the best get elected and work tirelessly for the good of the nation. We went from complacent to apathetic. It was good enough for many to be able to name the current president and vice president . While we were sleeping the shadow government was working overtime , undermining our stability and foundations. Yes there is a shadow government. Several groups decide our direction and set our foreign policies The council on foreign relations , the trilateral commission , world economic forum, to name a few. Rich bankers using nations like gaming tokens. The Rothchilds, the Bilderburgs ,Rockefellers, etc. These ultra rich banksters get together with their chosen cohorts many of which are polititions from several different countries and they plan our future. I call these a shadow government because they are not elected and they have control over those that are elected .
Our government is fighting itself and our people are fighting amongst ourselves because we are being manipulated by these international banksters who want a new world order, a one world government with one religion and one currency.
We are depleting our stockpiles and borrowing money to give to other countries because that further weakens the U.S. One of their desired goals. America is the stronghold. If it falls the world falls with it. Making it easier to achieve their g*******t dreams. This is the main reason they want our guns. Americans are fighters and aren't afraid to go down fighting. But they can take us without firing a shot. By fundamentally changing our country. ,I have no proof to offer . But the more you research the more confirmation you'll find. Time is short and it's hard to say if any candidate is independent and not in the pockets of these global elites. The only hope I can offer is don't v**e for any incumbents if you wish as I do to keep America free. And keep your powder dry.

I like your rules, especially about backing up what you say. I do fact check a lot, but not always. Like I have a list of of Trump's misses, like Trump saying that he lost to Obama. I do know that he said this on Faux News, but I don't know to whom or when. I will try to be better keeping my notes.
