New term to figure out...

Like most everyone else, I get offers to buy/invest every week.. and they all sound faultless.
However one I got last week had a new term in it.. new to me at least..
I am sure a number of people on OPP can define if for me..
The deal of the week was labeled as a "fixed index annuity".. Now annuity has been a buzz word for a while, index funds of all sorts, but just what do they mean with a fixed index annuity..must be very simply but I have not paid much attention to investments for quite a long time..
Anyone to enlighten me?

I don't have to deal with higher mathematics anymore. Since denuding my bank account to repair my t***smission, I don't have to count very high now.

Yet, some people promote the simple life... LOL.. I always found the sitting around and contemplating my belly button was boring..
I am sorta in the same boat as you.. I had an ice dam fall on my deck and smash it last winter.. Insurance (now that is a good one to scorn) said not covered by insurance, so I had the deck removed and a covered porch put on.. all on my own dime.. at that rate the dimes go fast..
But the days still are nice,, so enjoy..
