I have eaten to much, drank to much and my house resembles a DMZ. I have relatives in every available space. Oddly enough I have not been this happy in years.
Relatives came from: Germany, France, New York, and New Orleans. Seems we Germanic people just can't help from invading other countries.
Mika now has toys from around the world. I was afraid the poor kid would feel overwhelmed but he never meets a stranger. He finally went to sleep holding his new Teddy Bear and his illustrated copy of Grimm's Fairy Tales. My daughter committed to me: "Poor kid has been hugged so much, I bet his hair hurts."
My Great Aunt came from Germany with my Uncle. She will be 102 on her next birthday. Mika fell in love with her. Apparently, she knows great stories. I was worried about her making such a long flight. She told me she just had to meet the newest family member and the pilot did all the work. She had a couple of beers went to sleep and woke up in Atlanta. Nothing to it.
We have six more days of celebrations. I hope I live that long. I will have a busy day trying to put my house in something resembling order. I am just so thankful we could all be together. I will say a prayer of thanksgiving tonight for all the blessing we have been bestowed.
Tonight is a celebration with friends and neighbors. More cooking. If weather permits a midnight ride to the top of the mountain and of course in true German fashion another bonfire.
I hope everyone on OPP has had a wonderful Christmas or whichever holiday you celebrate. I thank God for mine.

You and your generosity deserve only the best for this holiday season. Enjoy the family, and a little clutter never hurt anyone. With Mika safe on board there will be days of clutter to come but love makes the clutter fun and memories are built. May God richly bless you and your family this holiday season.
Happy for you and yours. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

It's good to expose a young child to older relatives & if they are from another country, so much the better. I had a great Christmas & couldn't give gifts but enjoyed talking with family members & their friends & other relatives. I got some nice gifts but enjoy sharing food & bon fire outside very much...

Speaking of not being able to give gifts, there was one Christmas about five years ago where because of my 100% commission employment situation, I couldn't afford any gifts for my bride. She, in her ever loving way, suggested we wrap and "re-gift" items for each other from around the house. I can't remember everything I got but I do recall getting a bear eyeglass holder that I am QUITE fond of. Bless her heart, we had one of the best Christmases that year.
That's a great story. I can relate. I have been on 100% commission for years and have had some lean years where waiting on a commission was the difference between hotdogs or steak.

Being on 100% commission taught me what I call "cash flow" budgeting where I knew approximately when we would run out of money if I didn't make any more sales. Thankfully, those days are passed but that tool has served me well since then dealing with expenses such real estate taxes, homeowners insurance (I don't escrow), etc. that are not constant and can't be averaged out for budgeting purposes.
Best wishes to you and yours. You know what the holidays are all about.
