The Bush administration has adamantly defended its annual outlay of nearly $2 billion in military and economic aid to Egypt in response to a Congressional debate on the issue. The White House has insisted that US strategic interests in the Middle East would be harmed by any reduction in its assistance to Egypts dictatorial regime.

Egypt, led by President Hosni Mubarak, receives more US aid than any other country save Israel. Washington provides $1.3 billion in annual military aid, a sum which amounts to 80 percent of the Egyptian militarys budget. Additional economic aid, which is tied to the countrys ongoing pro-business economic reform, is also directed to Mubarak each year.

The funniest thing about these progs is that they really think they can work with the Muslims to destroy our government and then the Brotherhood will allow them to take over. I don't think that the catfish has any ideas about who governs Egypt today and who did it when Mubarak was in control. Nobody is going to tell him any different than progs think, either.

You guys are so funny. Acting as if you know something either others do not know, or have their facts wrong. When this deal was struck Mubarak was still in power. I have a hard time believing you would want the US to back out of the deal, and destroy the credibility of the US overseas. That is not how we do business.
