Maybe if I get desperate I'll try Direct TV
We had nightmares with Direct TV. They were down all the time, and if you don't pay the extra fees, you end up paying $99 if someone has to come out and service your box. It was the worst I've ever had.
Right now I am without TV and living in an area where the only choices for Internet are DSL thru Verizon or Xfinity thru Comcast, so I using DSL ($60+ a month) and hoping to get something else later. I check Direct and I may go with them if I get really desperate. Our library has quite an extensive amount of DVDs so most of the shows I can watch without commercials. I have an IPad and have downloaded Fox on it and watch a few shows that way. Thanks for all suggestions. Merry Christmas all and a Happy New Year.
DirecTV had a great picture 95% of the time, it was better than regular cable but it doesn't do well in heavy rains. Cousin had DISH up north, snow was a problem and I didn't think the picture was that great. My biggest problem with DirecTV was the second year it damn near doubled, with taxes and everything it was $122 with DSL and phone. Having been on cable modem for 15 years DSL was a huge disappointment, better than dial-up but not much.

Currently I have no TV subscription locally, but my son has Bright-house in Florida and I am able to access Fox News on my IPad using his password and log in. Does anyone know how to contact the Big Guy at Fox News?
he has already been intimidated over a year ago that's Beck was forced to leave fox and if you were paying attention the big change in O'Reilly

Fox News Talk Radio was dropped from XM Radio a couple of years ago, supposedly over the same issue of not being able to negotiate a deal. I really miss it. I used to listen to Tom Sullivan and I don't recall the other gentleman's name every night on my hour commute home from work. As far as I know, the only Fox News on XM nowadays is its audio feed on channel 114.

What change in O'Reilly?
if you were watching before Soros bribed those reporters in England and now you would know the difference it was all a part of Murdock's pay off to get the case dropped another part was get rid of Beck

What's the deal? Sunday morning, no Fox. I call them and they say they're re- negotiating with Fox. They don't want to raise their fees for the customers. They don't know how long it will take. I think I'll switch to Direct. Any ideas from anyone?
I just paid direct 330.00 to get rid of them after 2 months of lousy programing. Good luck@ Merry Christmas
Don't believe Soros had much to do with Beck leaving. Beck got himself in trouble with conspiracies several times. Have watched Beck since he was at CNN. Have watched Bill since his second show (when he had hair on top). I see nothing that links Soros, O'Reilly and Murdock. O'Reilly is a syndicated show. With his rating I doubt anyone is pulling many strings.

We looked into doing something like that, found it was less money keeping them and use another service than cancelling them. Great picture as long as it's not raining or a hard rain causing 'lose of satellite'.

bmac, remember back a few months ago someone mentioned something you can purchase for your TV to act like cable; however, you can do an a la carte deal? I cannot remember the name of it. It is some kind of box.
I do remember something about it. Many ways to do without cable, Sling Box is what I've used.

My son knows I'll ask him.
I have given up TV altogether. First, because of their outlandishly expensive service, and second because I'm s**k of so-called 'reality shows'. Moreover, the news on every channel is nothing but straight government run lies and panic spreading.
I believe I'll just stick with my VHS tapes and DVD's.  :hunf:

I remember now. It is called Roku. My Cousin uses it and has for several years.
