Don't assume that all incest is the parent and an offspring of the opposite sex. I can't begin to count the number of cases of men molesting their sons or older teenage boys (men) molesting their younger brother. I would say that of the boys we work with around one third were molested by their fathers, or the father figure or mother's boyfriend. Several of the therapists we know who primarily work with girls who have been molested have said that a number of the predators were the female parents. What the rates are for same sex "parents" and their adopted children of the same sex, or the opposite sex is still up in the air as research is scattered. As long as it is not politically correct to inquire about incest in those families, the inquiry may be limited.

NPP - I didn't make any assumption at all. But I do know that incestuous opposite-sex activity does occur in heterosexual families. The frequency of those events (relative to same-sex incest) seems irrelevant to me....any abuse in any combination is wrong.

I'm just saying that inferring that same-sex marriage leads to incest is a false assumption, and that if in fact it WERE correct, that would indicate grounds to fight against heterosexual unions.

It also existed in Africa, and apparently existed in a different form in Europe, and mutated into what we have today. The early European explorers brought home the African and New World versions to complement the STDs already in Europe. Bear in mind that Columbus was not the only European explorer in that time period. It could just have easily been brought back by another group, and the combination of the different strains, including the African, produced what we have nowl.
