Trump didn’t give a damn about whether or not we were running a surplus (we weren’t with Obama though the deficit was under control). His dev**ed followers wanted tax cuts, particularly the well to do. Diaper Don slashed taxes for the wealthy, razed corporate taxes to the ground, and even passed a small tax cut for the middle class. The tax cut for the middle class was a smoke screen though. The tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations were permanent, while the middle class tax cut is due to expire in 2025. Which, had he been reelected, his successor would have had to deal with irate v**ers.

Trump was under no illusion that the economy would pay for the tax cuts with a huge boom. Don is incredibly stupid in most matters but even he knew that this would run up a massive deficit. But it wasn’t his money and it would sharply reduce his own taxes. He caught a lucky break in that the economy, which had been doing well with Obama coasted along the first two or so years of his Presidency. This did not last.

Trump foolishly pulled out of a massive Pacific trade pact and engaged in losing “trade war” with China. The damage this caused the agricultural sector in the US is hard to fully fathom, tens of billions of dollars a year worth of exports were wiped out. The economy was already stating to go in the toilet when the bottom really fell out.

You can’t blame Trump for C***D. You can, however, blame him for the piss poor job of handling the crisis. The US, with Big Pharma rolling out new medications left and right, was probably better positioned (under Bush the Lesser and Obama) to deal with an epidemic than any country in the world. Trump, however, wiped out the epidemic program, likely out of jealousy. The damage C***D did to the economy was extreme. Not only did the economy tank, it required massive government spending just to keep people from starving.

Trump’s failure was that he didn’t care that he was writing checks the budget couldn’t cash. Unlike Bush he was under no illusions on that. It benefited him so it was the thing to do. Add to that a string of i***tic policy decisions and you have monster deficits he created while in office.

You can defend, to a small degree, Bush’s blunders because he did mean well. He just screwed up. Trump, on the other hand, was never in it for anyone but Trump.

Perm is in complete "GET TRUMP" mode and his words mean NOTHING. I never read so many lies in my life, as this guy can dish them out. Most Dems are a bunch of LIARS, and Perm is no exception. He can lie with the best of them, i.e. Joe Biden!

Good to hear from you Bob. How are you and your $ millions doing under Joe Biden ? I was beginning to tell myself that your boy's bad policies had finally run their course. My IRA was showing signs this year of coming back from the dead. Then I got my August statement. It wasn't pretty. In fact it sucked the Obama.

In my other investments that I directly control, I smartly went into 50 % cash two years ago. Interest rates, I hope will continue to rise.

I think you are full of it. You likely have an old fashioned pension that cushions your investing mistakes. The US is becoming like China. The leader in power is using the power of the state to try to jail his political rival.

Who cares? Bidenomics is costing us $700 a month in purchasing power. That's $8400 a year. Bad news.
