Welcome, pdepan: there are definitely some wise souls lurking here. I haven't been here for long but have learned a great deal from the likes of, "oldroy"; "NavySnipe"; "Tasine"; "Auntie"(do not use profanity here); "Dutchman"; "The C*****r"(who i designated the class clown, but not dumb by any means), several others(if i forgot you i apologize), but I highly recommend you pass right by anything and I do mean anything "rumitoid" has to offer(unless you H**E !! America)
In fact I am really surprised none of them have helped you yet with your question " how does it work?"... Give it some time the good ones are eager to educate. I think its awesome that you being new here aren't afraid to ask questions, Im not the brightest bulb here, but I will help if I can.

p.s. not all of us are sticklers about grammar and spelling or punctuation. Also remember to announce who you are referring to, and if you make a declaration be prepared to back it up, and provide links when doing so (if possible)

Some advice on site usage. If there is a comment posted by a particular individual to whom you wish to respond, click on "Quote Reply". By utilizing this, the person will receive notice you have replied. All of us can see all replies and freely answer back and forth.
I have noted Worried for Our Children mentioned grammar and spelling as did "my" Alex (private joke between Alex and myself) in response to your Introduction. They were referring to the grammar N**i, ie. AuntiE. There are times I am quite fierce in scolding. At least, my technological sk**ls are weak, I lack the ability to scold in red marker. :-D
