It seems God already made that choice over 2000 years ago when he said in the book of Acts (and in many other books) that turning away from your sins (repenting) and asking his (God) forgiveness, believing that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is the only way into his home/ kingdom. Homosexuals will NOT repent from homosexuality because they have been told by the progressive liberals and Obama that its ok to be homosexual. They actually believe that they are legally married when God defines marriage between one man and one woman. So...what do they do? They begin their journey of rewriting the bible to fit their lifestyles. It doesn't work that way! and as a Christian it is your job to tell homosexuals that.

Paul, I can understand your being offended by my use of the word perversion, but you need to understand that I am not calling you perverted or evil. I am sorry that I can not support your life style. I hope that you can understand and live with the fact that you and I believe differently. And for the record, I do not care if you are gay or not... your sexual preference does not define you as a person. My God is quite alive and only He can say you are or are not welcome in His home.

The Bible says that the homosexual ACT is perverted not the same sex attraction unless it is acted upon. The term homosexual to define an "orientation" is a really new concept, perhaps an invention of psychiatrists. For hundred of years the concept was that people had sex with the same sex and that act was a sin. There seems to be no indication that genetics have much if anything to do with same sex attraction, no matter what the activists may want to promote. but the root causes probably go back to childhood combined with some personality traits that may be influenced by genetics. No matter what the causes may be or what claims are made, the act is your choice and there fore a sin, according to both the old and new testaments. I know of a number of same sex attracted couples who live together in a celibate relationship and therefore are not in a state of sin. But there are also sins that you have control of in your personal life and are your responsibility not to do.

Well said, my friend. We need more like you, PennyLynn, NPP and Paul Pisces to practice courtesy...as a general rule. An interesting and welcome trio, I might add. Diversity on a political discussion forum is good :!:

'Interesting' is an interesting assessment.

So you agree that homosexuality is a perversion? Pennylynn stated that and you agree that she is more in line with the teachings of Jesus, and she is correct because the bible tells us that homosexuality is a perversion. Here's how I see it: In God's eyes all sins are equal. No one sin is greater than the other (unless it involves children) because God says in Mark 9:42, "but if you cause one of these little ones who trust in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone hung around your neck". So...other than children, I believe God views sin as sin. The man who practices adultery is just as guilty as the man who practices homosexuality. The only difference between the two men is whether or not if one of them repents (turns away from their sin) and ask God to forgive them for their sin. If the adulterer does that he is forgiven. If the homosexual continues to live life in denial and refuses to repent, he is denying Gods grace to forgive his sins.

Many thanks Pennylynn. Although you and I disagree on some things, I can definitely say you seem to practice a form of Christianity much more aligned with the loving teachings of Christ than many on this site! I support you in that, and hope you keep it up.

Temptation is not a sin. Acting on temptation is. Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness, BUT Jesus overcame Satan's temptation.

Believe me, it is easy enough to be misunderstood and charged with being h**eful while attempting to be courteous, let alone when no attempt is made to remain civil. I do have absolute beliefs and will not change them, and do not think it is a point of view debate. However, name calling only makes discourse impossible and any good comments that have been made are lost in the vitriol. Rather defeats the purpose doesn't it?

Pennylynn - As I think someone will point out, I am gay and am quite comfortable with it. I've been in a relationship for 17 years, and legally married to him for the past 6.

And while I definitely disagree with your calling my orientation "perversion", I do like your focus on teaching your children values at home. It's certainly your right, and if you instill a loving nature the world will always be a better place for it. Tolerance is a value that was certainly central to Jesus' teaching, and I think all kinds can live in harmony if we practice just a little more of it.

Someone needs to practice courtesy, since most of us, (myself included ), neglect to do so.

You are generally only rude, nasty or discourteous when addressed in that manner. As a rule, you treat people the way they treat you. It is the main reason I approach you with utmost caution and civility.

I do not want to upset the beast within you.

To everyone on OPP, I make my sincerest apologies for the hurt my post has eng****red. That was never my intent. And I realize now that what I see as a very funny observation on family structure was poorly and insensitively timed, this being the Christmas season.

However you celebrate, wh**ever you believe, this should be above all a season of joy and coming together.

I wish you each and every one (and I do mean EVERY one) a joyful celebration and hope it is full of the good fellowship and family that we all wish for.
To everyone on OPP, I make my sincerest apologies ... (show quote)

Happy New Year to you, too, Paul. Sincerely.
