Now, liberals will tell you that "no one is trying to take your guns away from you!" but, as my Dad used to say, "There's more than one way to skin a rabbit". In this case, it's called "fleecing a rabbit" because it's going to price a lot of people (especially lower earning women) out of the gun buying market (because you KNOW the Mfg's and dealers will have to pass the tax increases on to the consumer).

The GOOD news is that this must be one of those Bills in that pile of 350 that got introduced to the House then shoved in a drawer. If this is the case, then it would be akin to "being thankful for the fleas".

If you care, you need to nip this in the bud by writing to your representatives and telling them "NO!"

H. R. 3018

This Act may be cited as the ‘‘Gun Violence Prevention and Safe Communities Act of 2013’’.

To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to increase the excise tax and special occupational tax in respect of firearms and to increase the t***sfer tax on any other weapon, and for other purposes.

‘‘There is hereby imposed upon the sale by the manufacturer, producer, or importer of the following articles a tax equivalent to the specified percent of the price for which so sold:

‘‘(1) Articles taxable at 20 percent:

‘‘(A) Pistols.

‘‘(B) Revolvers.

‘‘(C) Firearms (other than pistols and revolvers).

‘‘(D) Any lower frame or receiver for a firearm, whether for a semiautomatic pistol, rifle, or shotgun that is designed to accommodate interchangeable upper receivers.

‘‘(2) Articles taxable at 50 percent: Shells and cartridges.’’.

(Bill goes on to say that government agencies are exempt from these taxes, of course)

(a) INCREASE IN TAX.—

striking ‘‘$1,000’’ and inserting ‘‘$2,000’’, and

striking ‘‘$500’’ and inserting ‘‘50 percent of the dollar amount"

(2) SMALL IMPORTERS AND MANUFACTURERS.—

substituting ‘$500’ for ‘$1,000’ ’’ and inserting ‘‘substituting ‘50 percent of the dollar amount applicable under such paragraph for the taxable year’ for ‘$2,000’ ’’.

INCREASE IN T***SFER TAX ON FIREARMS amended—

(A) by striking ‘‘$200’’ and inserting ‘‘$500’’, and

(B) by striking ‘‘$5’’ and inserting ‘‘$100’’.

What is taking place is everyone is going through Reids' desk now, to see what they can force through before the change January 2015..That is so obvious its sickening..They probably didn't even remember it drawing dust until now and is why its being introduced..I also do not think it will gain the v**e needed even with the D's having the majority right now..There's a reason it sat and likely because they knew they didn't have the v**es needed to get it passed??

The nightmare coming January 2-15 grows by the day in what will need to be kicked back down once it changes and that's if the new kids on the block are paying the least bit of attention..I wonder~~~

America the Beautiful is the one I got and yes, his vision, as expressed was an incisive manifesto of the values that shaped America’s past and what is needed and must shape her future..I learned a lot more of his thinking process and not just his medical knowledge, as seen before...A true vision of exactly what is needed..I also like that he "struggled" to attain what he has...Makes him understand so much I think..Not handed to him, a self made man with a goal in the medical field for the needy to becoming what he has, thus far..

Thank You Linda for your Thoughts on him,that kind of reinforces my beliefs of him as well,I think everyone should read his book's as well I think their just might be hope at the end of the rain bow for our nation to heal itself. That's ok I may have missed it at some point in time.
