Should Congress be required to read a Bill, before they v**e on it?

Makes sense to me. It would also result in smaller Bills. Who has time to read and digest 1,700 pages after all? Anyone who v**es on a Bill without reading it should be fired on the spot. Or better yet, how about we just shoot them? God knows, they deserve it. Just my two cents.

The question is moot. Of course they should be compelled to read all bills presented, then debate them.

Does that mean we can shoot them?

Damn. They'll probably make us get a license. And the application will be a foot thick, with all kinds of intrusive questions.

Possibly, but they won't read it, so don't worry.

Even a college graduate only reads at about 400 to 500 words a minute, and since a 1,700 page bill would have at least an average of 500,000 words in it, .... it would take about 1,000 minutes (about 17 hours) to read the whole thing. That's without any breaks for food or other needs.

Of course, any reading of the bill that is done, is by the legislator's minions, .... and then they tell him their opinions, .... complete with their biases and comprehension limitations.

Too bad our founding fathers didn't foresee this and add another amendment to the Constitution.

Yes, but we'd probably be able to pay off the national debt with the proceeds within a couple of years...a win/win situation!!

There is a old law on the books that give Congress and the Senate 30 days to read before they v**e. No one uses it.
