Like everything in entertainment this comes down to profits. Present day Disney execs wish to update classic Disney characters and plots. Either the public will accept it and the company will make good profits, or the public will not accept it and Disney will lose money.
Lately a .lot of Disney productions have lost money or not made acceptable returns on the money expended. Disney expends capital. It must get a good return on that capital or Disney will go backwards.
In my humble view if Disney wants to go down the woke road, they should do it with new characters. They should leave their classic movies untouched. Former Disney exec Bob Iger has returned to try to rescue Disney from the disaster Bob Chapek inflicted on it.
The jury is still out whether Iger can reverse Disney's fortunes. Getting into a war with Gov. DeSantis is stupid and not good business.

Yea I thought that was what you were saying. For profit companies getting involved in culture wars do so at their peril. The woke creep into corporations has been stealthy, until the last few years. I think the left felt they had enough power and influence to be much more open in their attacks on traditional America. This has proven to be premature.
