Here's a tough position on the freedom to enjoy public spaces that is hard to defend, yet what do you think the freedom loving pigs making messes while enjoying their freedom to act like seriously despicable pigs would have to say if they are called on the messes they are making?

I can tell you from a first hand perspective that they get seriously obnoxious and combative about suggesting they clean up the messes they are in the process of making. I say that because when you see a spot that looks like bags of trash and empty cans and bottles were dumped, these pigs party all day with trash strewn all around them. It would disgust me to be anywhere near people acting like pigs, who will leave their spot exactly like it is while they are partying in it.

Tahoe is actively looking at ways to reign in on these pig's freedom to enjoy the outdoors and leave it looking like a landfill zone, and why shouldn't they?

So the question is how best to end this d********g behavior and messes left behind? The solution is to crack down on people before they leave a mess, part of enjoying these spaces being respecting them and policing up your trash as you make it. It's easiest done at the stage where the real mess is being made, while pigs are partying. Making it a requirement that no cans, bottles, or trash is left on the ground during the day, it being a rule that empty garbage is put in a trash bag all during the day...enforceable by fines, compliance, and eviction from the premises if they refuse to comply.

A move that freedom loving pigs would see as a violation of their freedom to act like pigs if that's what they want to do.

My point here was that there is some serious outrage going on in the Tahoe area, and they are looking at ways to come down on pigs like a ton of bricks.

It sounds like a lack of political will. Why did authorities ever let things get to this point ?

These pictures look like the aftermath of the B*M "tear down the statues" rally in Richmond, Va. The democrat mayor, Levar Stoney pulled the police back and enabled it.

At what point do you crack down on people's freedom? They maintain they have a right to be there.

I personally think that the easiest way to end this is to crack down on it all through the day as people are making the messes, make keeping their areas clean part of the deal for using it.

It has nothing to do with their right to be there. You put the resources into dealing with the problem. That means you either have police surveilling the area or you put up cameras. When you have the evidence of who is littering you severely nail their asses. I mean BIG FINES and JAIL TIME.

Actually punishing people for their actions seems to have gone the way of the horse and buggy. A few years ago the job I had gave me 5 hours to k**l in the middle of the day and it was a waste of gas to drive home and drive back to work. The area I worked in had some very good recreation parks. Some days I would shoot basket ball at a very nice court. However, many times there was trash left on the court.

Mostly water bottles. It was easy to figure out that kids playing basketball at night were leaving the trash. Many times I cleaned up the trash, but since there were no cameras or enforcement it was a losing battle. My point is that you either enforce the rules or you don't. If you do, you don't end up with your community being trashed.

I lived and worked in Reno for 20 plus years, been to Tahoe many times, I know how it goes up there.

Those "freedom loving pigs", as you describe them were not there to celebrate Independence Day or American freedom. They didn't give a tinker's damn what holiday it is, It was a national holiday, a day off work, an opportunity to party, get drunk and stoned and screw.

True freedom is not doing wh**ever you want,
it is the strength to do what you should.

What does that have to do with freedom loving real murikans leaving messes like this on holidays? With people that act like f-ing pigs while having a good time?

Gee...and what a violation of freedoms it would be to expect them to keep the messes they are making picked up and put in bags throughout the day, huh?

But try to say something and you have pissed off drunk morons defending their right to be pigs.

Hey stupid... do you know the difference between PERsecution and PROsecution?

So you defend pigs rights to be pigs?

Is that persecution to crack down on people pigs leaving messes like this?

More importantly, why do you defend this position of Tahoe's right to get serious about doing something about this?

I warned you about the names sparky

No need to guess about it, what difference does it make where they came from when all that matters is what they are doing here?

And by the way, it's people who care that put the volunteer time into cleaning this mess up...it's inconsiderate pigs that can't carry out the garbage from what they carried in.

I don't see anyone disagreeing with you. People should clean up their messes, and it would be better if they did it as they go along. Does ANYone out there disagree????
I don't see the point of this thread.
Are you just venting your outrage?
Did you expect one of us 'deplorables' to argue with you?
Or are you just wanting a fight and looking for any usable topic to focus on? If that is the case, then here I am. While I do not disagree with your stated point, I think you are deliberately implying that right wingers are the culprits. I present the opinion that progressives are much MUCH more likely to leave such messes than conservatives, Christians, and most Republicans (excluding the progressive Republicans).
Personally, I have lived by the code "Take nothing but photographs and leave nothing but footprints" since I learned it in Cub scouts. I have been practicing it for 60 years. I wish everyone would do so.
