Republic, Not Democracy

The United States is NOT a Democracy. It is a Republic. A Republic is a Democratic form of government, which can include but is not limited to Democracy. A Republic might best be described as an indirect form of Democratic government, since the individual citizen does not v**e on every piece of legislation. Instead, he or she elects a Representative to v**e their proxy. In a limited Constitutional Republic such as ours, they powers of government are separate and serve as a check on each other, with the final power at least theoretically vested in the people who elect the lawmakers. Too often, the "people" neglect to replace said lawmakers.
Our Founders were unanimous in their opposition to Democracies, or the tyranny of the majority, even it that majority is quite small. This is the reason we have the E*******l College which Liberals want to abolish. That would put the more populous states in a position of perpetual superiority over the less populated areas, which tend to be far more conservative.
The E*******l College ensures that states like New York, Florida or Texas cannot dictate to states like Kansas or South Dakota. This is why the House is based on population and the Senate has 2 representatives from each state.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the v**ers discover that they can v**e themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always v**es for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage.” –Alexander Fraser Tytler

Liberals want to see us back in bondage, with Liberals in charge. They do not want "freedom" except for themselves, and the only real change they want to implement is the occupant of the drivers' seat.

It’s a worthless argument.
There would be no republic without democracy .
They are synonymous.
You can pretend all you want .
This republic has democratic representation.
End of story .
Your republic would have states e*****rs choosing your representatives.
We don’t do that ,

You have some of the dumbest posts on OPP. I've had you on 'Ignore' since your first post on OPP, I wish admin would modify the 'Ignore' button to stop us from even seeing the people we have on 'Ignore'. That means I have no desire to have any conversation with you or anyone else I have on ignore. Arguing with a fool is a waste of time so I will not let you bring me down to your level.

From above link: "the U.S. is a “unique form of democracy.”

You have exposed your ignorance often enough to leave no doubt in anyone's mind, except perhaps your own. Which part did you not understand? A pure Democracy is one where YOU would go to DC and your state capitol and v**e personally on every legislative item. Dios nos ayude There is a difference between a Democracy and a Democratic form of government. I know this is really red meat for someone of your educational under-achievements, but do try and keep up. (I know, it's all a Facist, N**i Taliban plot) You should really think of a better insult, since you have no idea what you are saying, but I digress. Democracy and Republic are NOT synonymous. I doubt you know the definition of synonymous, it just sounded educated, right?
By the way, when are you going to take this pore ol' ignorant cholo hillbilly on in a debate on the 14th Amendment? I'm waiting.
