Muslims, I think, have a different conception of time. to them, the Crusades were yesterday. They conveniently forget that the Crusades were not all about greed on the part of the Catholic Church. They were, in no small part, a response to four hundred years of Islamic aggression. Much of the supposed religious objectives were more on the lines of both preventative and retaliatory actions. Muslims forget that the first aggressions were not by European Christians, but by Berbers from North Africa. Not to mention constant Islamic incursions into the realms of the Byzantines.
