Why we need Hell

Most of us were raised in Western Christian Theology, myself very much included, so I sometimes find myself in a state of syncretism between that faith in which I was raised and the Eastern Christian (Orthodox) Church & faith I grew into. One of the things I appreciate about ancient Eastern Christianity is their acceptance of mystery: "we can't possibly know, define, codify and legalize everything theological, there imust always be room for mystery, for the unknown." Here in the West we've pretty much nailed down the lid on Heaven & Hell while the Ancient East has a different understanding that I thought I'd share with you. I hope you find the article interesting; not an issue to be contentious about.

I can tell you what does exist. People who seek the love of God and strive to live it. There are also people who seek the power of God . They seek to control whoever they can by what ever means they can justify.

I agree with you on that first part. But I have to ask, how do people seek the power of God to control other people. Seems like God wouldn't allow that.
