Calling out unhinged people for murdering people is not saying no to guns, it's saying yes to mental health standards for gun ownership, and you know it. The right believes that saying anything negative about an unhinged person is supporting taking everyone's guns, and that is the problem, it's a disconnect from reality.

If a person has never been treated for mental illness and there is no medical record of it, how do you expect a gun seller to know what someone is going to do with the gun they sell? Do you think people should not be able to buy guns on the off-chance that they might be mentally ill? If that were the case, only mentally ill people would have guns because they will get them somewhere other than a legal gun seller! The same is true with people with criminal records....
