Why can't anybody discuss and debate the issues rationally anymore. When I was in college in the 60"s, the Young Republicans would invite the Young Democrats to their club's keg parties and the Young Democrats would invite the Young Republicans to their club's pot parties, and we would be friendly to each other, even when we were still sober enough to talk about the issues. Now it seems like all people want to do is avoid the real issues and name call and make accusations about things unrelated to the real issues. Why can't we all just get along and be nice to each other and try to work together to make life better for everyone?😞

I try my best to be civil.. There is always someone trying to get the upper hand by upsetting you . I believe that by keeping cool I don't give control of myself to them .

You mean back in the 60's when young men were drafted and sent to Vietnam only to return to the US and be accosted and called baby k**lers by the young Democrats. Yep, some people were really not that much different then than now. Admittedly the gutter has gotten more crowded and more intolerant today.

Now those young democrats grew up and a large number became the Republicans of today.

No - I believe many on the right discuss the issues, and use derogatory terms in doing so. And there is so much to distain on the radical, extreme left. Rational people see that.
