The region's emerging majority is progressive. Its capitols are more conservative than ever. Something's got to give.

They've been working to "breed out" the traditional south for generations and it looks like their plants have come to fruition.

Manipulation, indoctrination and subversion, they will break a stronghold that resisted their perversions for decades.

Like what the English did to the Scots during the Scottish r*******ns if the Scots could not be subjected then to quote Edward Longshanks: "We will breed them out of existence".

A line must be drawn somewhere.

Or a hand extended. Why must it all be oppositional? The only resolution death. There are middle ways to everything that are not subjugating our values. But it needs thought, prayer, and commitment; it will not be easy or quick.

While I find your peaceable optimism refreshing in an atmosphere of brazen rancor, you must take it from perspective as I am a southerner myself.

When you have a large sum of people showing contempt towards southern people as being wh**ever they stereotypically acuse us of being, it comes from blatant ignorance. Worse is they don't want to learn about us their main concern is how to deal with us culturally.

There can’t be a middle way if one side does not wish to have a fair conscience with the other party, no matter how much you pray or think it through. Why should we meet in the middle if all they're concerned about is ramming things down our throats? Sure this isn't the South of 50 years ago but what the progressives want more is to eradicate the last bastion of southern culture and traditions. To me that is no different than genocide, only without mass murder. Yet.

Good points. I watched a program on Lincoln tonight and was astounded that S***e-holders had any argument whatsoever (other than crass and inexcuseable economics). I did not listen to their arguments, finding it utterly absurd that any plausable argument existed in a humane world. Yet they did have a point.

I grew up in da Bronx. Southerners, in general, were toxic i***ts: stupid, mean, and intolerant. Then I was drafted. My perspective changed. Having been raised to look at the best in people, I found it in Southerners. Shouldn't we all accept that as the ground to seeing and work from there?

Unfortunately not enough people see it that way. If there was a way to educate people like how you educated yourself then you can definitely come to a resolution rather than a revolution.

But...there are those who would rather see my kind vanish and squashed without remorse. I've seen the venom spewed out of progressives. Fortunately they do not speak for all...yet.

What gets me, Ghost, is the regional blindness, something that I inherited. How do we change things?

First by solving the progressive problem and liberal hypocrisy dividing our people. Then again it could be pure and willful ignorance which I'm afraid cannot be solved. That is human nature.

There was a time in America where we did not much care where you came from, the color of your skin or judge you by the clothes you wear. As long as you don't impede on my rights or trample on my values then you'll be alright. I'm afraid those gentile times are gone forever.

To be a generalizing prig, there best be medic nearby for defibrillation of Aunti from a heart attack if she hears the following phrases from a carpetbagger; please, Thank You, You are welcome. Also according to my niece who had to spend a week in NYC on business, the first morning she arrived at the office per usual she looked at the first person she saw and said, "good morning". There was no response. Later she was informed by the receptionist "We don't do that up here." How polite. I shall not start on the subject of traditions and the totally ....never mind.
