The Democrats have been fighting against trying to fix Social Security since 1980. President Ronald Reagan wanted to work on fixing it before it ran out, but the Democrats said that he was just scare mongering, and that Social Security could keep on being run as it always had. Tax the working people and use their taxes to pay the retired. They chose to pretend that the aging population, and decreasing childbirth rates would NOT effect the amount of money available to make payments. They're schemes are NOT working, so, as usual, they're trying to find ways to pass the blame onto the Republicans, who want to keep Social Security going; They also think that the old people have lived their lives, and should get out of the way and leave everything to the younger people; It's the younger generations turn to live it up.
