Could not get a couple maps to copy.. sorry about that..

From Quora...

Russia has a huge demographic problem. Their birth rate is collapsing. In less than 20 years they won’t have enough young men to protect their borders.

And they have a huge geographical problem, the European Plain.

All the highlighted area is just flat or slightly hilly. There is no significant mountain range. Borders in this area are difficult to defend. Russia’s Western border runs entirely through this plain. Taking Ukraine was supposed to solve the problem. It would shorten Russia’s Western border by more than 500 km (id Belarus remains a Russian vassal) and add a population of 45 million to Russia’s existing 145 million.

But it’s likely that Russia wants more:

To archive these goals Russia would have to invade into NATO territory. To be able to do so without risking a nuclear war they started a hybrid war right after Putin’s first ree******n in 2004. They tried to divide the West and destabilize it. They funded far right parties throughout Europe. They funded the British Leave campaign. But their most important tool is named Donald J. Trump. He weakened NATO and was even about to withdraw from NATO. But he failed to get a second term. And after losing the e******ns he attempted a c**p and failed again.

So Putin failed. He failed to take Kyiv. He reunited Europe (except a few politicians) Europe is starting to rearm itself. Sweden and Finland are joining NATO. He may take Donbas and get a ceasefire afterwards. A frozen conflict is remaining. A decade long guerilla war with ongoing sanctions. No good future for Russia.

Hmmm....
Russia's economy is doing better than before the war...
While Europe is floundering..
Sanctions were effective against tiny, friendless nations like North Korea or Cuba...
They don't appear to be working against Russia...
Indeed, since Russia was kicked from SWIFT, it would appear that the impending banking collapse won't harm Russia...
And all those new trade deals that don't involve the US dollar are pretty sweet...

I agree that Trump was an i***t concerning NATO... He kept warning them to increase their military spending (like he did with America) and to stop depending on Russian f****l f**ls (that worked out well for them)... He even went so far as to give the Ukrainian government actual weapons..
It would have been far wiser of him to continue Obama's policy of laughing at Russia while doing nothing to counter Russia...
But Trump's an i***t who didn't even manage to start a single war while in office... The dumbass went so far as to pull out of conflicts...
I mean, imagine investing money in the military, then pulling back to only defend one's own borders... Sheer stupidity...

The demographic issue is affecting most of Europe.. Russia will most likely allow immigration from ME allies and China... The xenophobia is the issue there...

Sarcasm escapes me but I do like when others are able to pull it off..

I am a bit new to the Putin problem.. but recall trump as doing nothing much but giving putin all he wanted and sending love letters to Kim.. I will never , ever be able to see any act by Trump as having a single strand of merit for America.

While admitting that not a single president.. (or person) has ever gotten my 100% approval.. in trumps case I find it difficult to express how low an opinion I have of him.. from the shallow end of the gene pool for sure..

This could be true guzz, but leaving Ukraine to be overrun would also destroy it.. I do not believe in giving up.. fight is the thing we must do in this world , always has been. And for our own safety and future we are obviously in a position where we must fight..

Remember the Russian spokesman who said they would line up the Ukraine government and cut off their heads like the ISIS mobs loved to do..

Just curious: how does getting NATO countries to pay more into NATO, make NATO weaker? It would appear that Pres. Trump was absolutely “on point” on that one.

For Bird,,,

Perhaps I got more motivated on the trump problem.. someone , somewhere posted how far in front of any other person running for the oval trump was.. after the initial outrage, I got truly concerned and saw the need to respond with a few pointed reminders of his slovic view of the world and what the world/cult should do for him..

nuts, got interrupted,, darn dog had to save the home from a couple of deer outside the window and demanded outside, made a spectacle letting them outrun him when he dashed over to the feeder..

Now back to posting.. sorry for the interruptions..

Just a minor clarification. trump did not get NATO to pay more and do not think he tried.. pushed the time of payment with no success but kept the amount the same as had been agreed with Obama.. I think it was 2% of each nations GDP... but the US has always agreed to pay more.. the whole thing was a USA idea..

As for weaker, trump wanted to loosen the obligations each NATO nation agreed to.. strange the only time NATO put the joint defense agreement into action was for the US when the 9/11 attack took place. but trump wanted to end that. I do not think any of trumps efforts were successful but he is on record saying if he is ever elected again, he will withdraw the US from NATO..

Yet another reason to send his sorry butt up the river..
