Well said. I'm glad my grandpa wasn't arrested. My uncle k**led my mom's sister. He had his oldest daughter watch as he bashes in her head with a cast iron sk**let. He also slammed doors on her hands and chopped her up into pieces, then put her in baggies and threw her in a well. Then he locked his daughter up with the other 2,wiped up blood and went to grandma's to shoot pool. He sent my uncle (my mom's brother)out to the car to get cigarettes. My mom's brother found hair and blood in the car. He went back in the house and chased the prick out with a pool stick. That prick went back to the house, wiped up more blood and watched football until the cops showed up.
After uncle George got out of prison, he would drive by grandpa's house.
My grandpa started to shoot him once and grandma stopped him. My grandpa left the gun sitting by his chair as he went to eat breakfast as the cousin who saw her mom being k**led picked up the gun . She shot her sister in the head while playing with it.
The funeral was in Whitewright , Tx . It was like something on t. v. George threatened to k**l anyone who came to the funeral. Family members were walking around with shotguns. I wanted mine but my dad said no. I didn't know if it was safe to go to school and wanted to k**l George. His name was George Box.

There is an age when the young can learn about guns, learn to use them, and learn to respect their deadly properties. I'd guess at about age 9 or 10, but it is a judgment call by the parents. Up until then, kids should not have unsupervised access to guns. So simple is it.

I think that an anecdotal account such as you cite, is not at all representative of factual occurrence. I am a gun owner and have been for over 70 years and I would not do what the article depicts nor do I know of any responsible gun owners who would. This is the kind of thing that upsets gun owners as much or more than it does gun h**ers. An indictment of guns by a single example, of which we don't know the circumstances, or, since it is by "Raw Story," if it is even true, isn't something I'd want to hang my hat on if I were you.

In some ways you make sense and others, not to much. But I do understand the reasoning you are trying to make to support your conclusion. Where I am having problems is this cheery picking on issues. They aren't old enough to learn about guns, how and when to handle them etc., but somehow they are old enough to change their sex without parental permission or guidance, because their teacher thinks they are not what they are, and need to hide it from their parents, while giving them puberty suppressing drugs without parental permission. And these same tiny tots are given books in the school library teaching then about anal sex with an adult and q***r behavior, all while not encouraging heterosexual sexual education and attractions, again without parental consent. Or that 5 year old white kids are suppressors and black kids are victims, turning good friends against each other. Or promoting a******n for kids that get pregnant, without parental consent. So, I hope you can see my reasoning for doubting these l*****t ideas.

I remember how being taught how to shoot a gun, load them, how to clean them and where they were in the house in case of emergencies. Other than that I was told not to mess with it or I'd get my butt beat. Never bothered with it. Nowadays, parents don't seem to do that. And don't talk back about being a single parent, so was my mother. I guess parents these days forget that teaching doesn't end when school is out
