Interesting concept.

It's always been hard for me to believe that God, because He loves us, has given us a way out... and the free will to choose our own destiny.

If ceasing to exist is all that awaits the unbeliever, why do you believe Jesus bothered to be crucified (a truly torturous death procedure), - paying in full the sin debt/penalty of death, of all those willing to accept His gift of reconciliation with God by faith, which includes an eternity spent in His presence?

Yes indeed, at times it does feel like we are living in hell with these progressives pushing their sinfulness on as many people as possible and creating a Hell on Earth. But this is just a taste of what these reprobates will one day have pushed on them when the end times are here and their eternal torment begins.

What human nature desires is autonomy, Bob. "You're not the boss of me!" is a common response to authority.

Think back to our original forebears, - we all still have that same refrain in our ears,

Adam and Eve - Garden of Eden; intrigued by history's 1st pied piper, the hissing seductive serpent:

"Surely you will not die, you will be as God."

Many choose to believe that hell does not exist... meaning there is no one to whom we must ever give account.

Jesus paid the ultimate price with his blood covering our sins. He died a very cruel death on that cross, but rose on the third day, just as he said, and is coming again to receive us as his own. Those of us who believe in him, and has asked for forgiveness for our sins. I know my Savior lives, not a doubt in my mind, as I have felt his presence, and
he has saved me from death many times. This world right now is living for satan. So many are just walking hand in hand with hum, all this woke, l***q, crt, stuff is so wrong, demonic, and just plain sick. We have turned our backs on God, and this is what we get. This country needs to repent, and allow God to work, and bring us back to a country that puts God first, as it should be. I know when I die, I will be reunited with my family, and see those I never even met before, but most of all, I will see Jesus, he is the only one who died for me. I just pray that those who do not believe will have a Holy Spirit encounter, and turn to Jesus, he is our only hope.

My thoughts on that is there is another being that fights for our souls besides God.

God gave us free will to either choose to follow Him or not. If we let God's enemy take our souls while we are alive, we end up living eternity in the enemy's world (hell) and not with God.

It is our choice.

And as Ziggy said above, we have many chances to change ourselves to align with God's laws before (and maybe even after) our death.

The way I explain it to the boy's group I teach in my home church is that we all live in a dark, depressing, gloomy, and dangerous city. Jesus has voluntarily entered our city, and has paid for tickets (in blood) for EVERYONE to board a train and leave the city for a safe and happy home in the country. And eventually, He warns, the city will be consumed in fire. Please take these freely and lovingly offered tickets to get out.
Is he a sadist for 'condemning' those who refuse to accept the tickets? Those who refuse to talk to Him? Or to even believe He is real? No, He is allowing you to be free, and to make your own choices, no matter how much He will regret your decision. Even my 1st graders can understand this metaphor, so I am sure you do, too. Rejecting God and Jesus is a CHOICE you and everyone else makes. You will live an eternity with the results of that choice.

jSmitty, this earth's worldly system, composed of the governments, culture, society, education, entertainment, and the man-made religions upon the earth, has always served Satan, ever since the fall of mankind in the garden.

That is why Jesus called Satan the (little g) "god of this world," and said Satan had no part in Him.

Our nation is under well-deserved judgement. The "great apostasy" mentioned in 2nd Thessalonians 2:1-3. The KJV calls it the "falling away," while the NIV and ESV call it "the r*******n," for that is what an apostasy is: a r*******n against God, an abandonment of the t***h of Scripture. The end times will include a wholesale rejection of God's revelation to man, a rapidly escalating further "falling away" of an already fallen world.

John 6:35-40: Jesus answered, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never hunger, and whoever believes in Me will never thirst.
But as I stated, you have seen Me and still you do not believe.

Everyone the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never cast out.
For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but to do the will of Him who sent Me.

And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of those He has given Me, but raise them up at the last day.
