I read the posts in this forum, varying opinions, beliefs, views that we are all entitled to by our first amendment related to free speech a foundational belief for all USA citizens. Sharing these diverse beliefs are important to understanding others. When people in this forum start name calling , slurring or ignoring facts of others because of their beliefs, affiliations, race, religion etc. It takes away from purpose or ability for a civil sharing of ideas for mutual understanding. We can agree with others, or we can agree to disagree but should never disparage others for their view. I challenge all participants in this forum to start a “ Love Revolution “ take the h**e out of your responses. Provide facts opinions as you see them but respect the right we each have to voice our views without retribution, name calling, etc. I feel we will all grow expotentionally in our understanding of each other by listening, sharing and caring about each other. Time for hatred to be replaced by “Love”. I plan to share my views without name calling but will call out name calling when I see it and ask for the person to please stop, please consider doing the same. We got to reset at some time, now is as good as any.

While for the most part I agree with you I will not abide N**is, Neo N**is, Klan members, overt r****m, sexism and homophobia. These are not ideas worthy of the least bit of tolerance.

Would love to but today determining a lie from factual t***h is very difficult. Deflection to other topics, discrediting any source that says anything contrary to your belief, pure “cultism like” belief that anything my champion says is the t***h, MSM- all of them have some level of bias. Where one can point out facts that contradict statements it should be done, but, t***hfully, I don’t have the time to research every statement for t***h. Some are so far to either side or entrenched in their belief that pointing out facts won’t matter. I hear you, but I just plan to read inputs, digest, research facts where eeemed needed, then form my opinion with best knowledge I can gather without demonising or name calling others.

I agree that certain affiliations are counter American, when I can truely ID non American ideas and challenge the idea I will, but I still have to respect each persons views, I can disagree but don’t have to name call them, just factually counter their statements. We do have all the types of people you mention above in the USA to the extent they don’t break the law their view is protected by first amendment. While I may not like or agree with their views, I can listen, agree to disagree without h**e. I suspect if someone I know, friend family member or myself were wronged by one of these vocal minorities, it would be hard not to h**e, but I would try.

Thanks for the response. Never give up , by civilly discussing our views, why our beliefs are where they are and stop pigeon holing people based on their opinion, continually challenging views with facts we can do two things: 1) reduce the width of the divide,2) minimise h**e and violence associated with differences- more tolerance. Loving others will prevail. This is not an on off switch, it’s a long term effort. The division you discuss has grown over decades and needs each person to work with others, listen to others and civilly discuss differing opinions. Lots of other things have to change: credibility in media, politicians, police, Govt. & Each other has to be reestablished as a start. Facts need to be clear and be touted over fiction and opinion. Things like newspapers had news section -facts and opinion section- opinion. News stations need to clearly delineate same, they need to establish self policing arms like Drs, lawyers, etc have to ensure integrity. Just a few of my ideas. Not everything is or needs to be political or not everything is needs to be handled by government.

I agree it difficult . I just respond each time that name calling, pigeon holing people demeaningly doesn’t add any value to discussion or understanding one’s views and stifles civil discussion

I call out the scumbags here for being r****t, N**i or f*****t when they post things supporting that ideology.

So you stop any discussion or understanding of their position by calling them scumbags, people you don’t know who just have a different opinion or belief than you. While you don’t need to agree the constitution allows each of us to speak our opinions, name calling those that have differing view creates more and more polarization and adds NO VALUE to the discussion. A simple “ I disagree with your opinion “ should be adequate. You never know your assessment( name calling) could be inaccurate or incorrect based on the limited info you may have.
