Biden’s Disgraceful Rhetoric He’s still comparing 2023 Republicans to 1965 Democrats.

Many media folk still cling to the belief that President Joe Biden’s serial falsehoods represent a sort of grandfatherly charm, a harmless desire to spin compelling yarns. But Americans have been paying a heavy price for his tall tales about the economy. Sunday brought a reminder of how poisonous his distortions can be to our public discourse.

What might have been a somber and serious remembrance on Sunday of the brutality of Jim Crow Democrats and the courage of civil rights demonstrators was simply used as a backdrop by Mr. Biden for vicious and false attacks on contemporary Republicans.

Speaking on the 58th anniversary of Bloody Sunday, when peaceful marchers were brutally beaten by police on the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Ala., Mr. Biden outrageously pretended that his political rivals are seeking to prevent people from learning of this history. Mr. Biden said, according to the White House transcript:

The t***h matters — notwithstanding what the other team is trying to hide. They’re trying to hide the t***h.
No matter how hard some people try, we can’t just choose to learn what we want to know and not what we should know.
We should learn everything — the good, the bad, the t***h — of who we are as a nation.
And everyone should know the t***h about Selma.
Those covering the event knew exactly what Mr. Biden was doing. Here’s how Katie Rogers described it in the New York Times: During his remarks, Mr. Biden took aim at efforts by Republican politicians — most notably Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida, who is pondering running for president in 2024 — to restrict how race-related issues are taught.
News consumers could easily come away with the false impression that 2023 Republicans are nearly as bad as 1965 Democrats.
But Gov. DeSantis is the one standing up for accurate history—including the teaching of shameful events in the nation’s past—and against an effort to replace fact with the contemporary fiction of the radical left.
Biden allies at the country’s largest teachers union have been pushing Marxist narratives that struggled to meet even the editorial standards of Comedy Central.

Mr. Biden is attempting to mislead v**ers on this subject because he knows that if he explained what Mr. DeSantis is really opposing, most v**ers of all backgrounds would agree with the Florida governor.
As for Mr. Biden’s Sunday remarks, they didn’t end with educational distortions. The President resumed his disgraceful habit of treating reasonable differences of opinion on the best ways to ensure accessible and accurate v****g as a contest between good and evil. Mr. Biden said, according to the White House transcript, that “as I come here in commemoration — not for show — Selma is a reckoning.”
He continued: The right to v**e — the right to v**e and to have your v**e counted is the threshold of democracy and liberty... And this fundamental right remains under assault.
The conservative Supreme Court has gutted the V****g Rights Act over the years.
This outrageous smear on the court wasn’t the end of the fact-challenged rant. Mr. Biden then went on to attack what he called a “wave” of “anti-v****g laws” enacted by states since 2020, as if, for example, sensibly requiring a valid ID to v**e has anything in common with the bigoted practices enforced by southern Democrats of the 1960s.

Some commentators may see progress in Sunday’s remarks given that the president seems to have slightly softened his words compared to the h**eful rhetoric on race that he was employed last year.

But his continuing portrayal of recent duly enacted laws as a sort of contemporary Jim Crow may be the most destructive of Mr. Biden’s falsehoods.

Not surprising. I***t Joe probably thinks he’s in 1965. Democrats lie. It’s what they do.
