The early Russian soldiers discovered a genocide perpetuated by the Ukraine army!
Listening to NPR radio a piece on Ukraine and those in the heart of the battle early on. Apparently the Russian soldiers got some Ukraine peoples cell phones and called home. These calls were intercepted and this report played back some of their conversations, but they missed something.
In one, the caller told his mom that they found that the Ukraine army was committing a genocide of Russians in the region and they had to stop it. The rest of the call was unrelated to anything like it and the reporter just moved on, dismissing it. But it was there in the call to him mom. "there is a genocide going on and we have to stop it." He was referring to the shelling of the donbas by the Ukraine military which was a reason Putin invaded.
The part of the call which said this was definitely a foul up to allow it to be heard but they were so focused on letting the call be about trouble finding fresh water and food that they didn't even hear it.
I don't have a link but it will be on the NPR website and you can dig into it and listen for it. It is there.

NPR is not a reliable source, of anything.
According to a BBC "negative in tone" toward Russia - "Reality Check" published last year, they actually admitted thousands of civilians, Ukraine army troops and other "armed" groups had been k**led between 2014 and 2022 BEFORE RUSSIA EVER ENTERED UKRAINE, making it obvious to any rational mind that the Donbas region civilians had been subjected to non-stop war by Ukrainian authorities.
I copied only a couple of paragraphs:
https://www.bbc.com/news/60477712"Ukraine crisis: Vladimir Putin address fact-checked," Published on 22 February 2022,
"The UN says states "have sometimes characterised certain incidents or periods of violence as genocide" but these "characterisations cannot be treated as authoritative or determinative."
"There is a continuing conflict in eastern Ukraine, however.
"The UN estimates 14,200-14,400 people were k**led in eastern Ukraine between 14 April 2014, when the conflict started, and 21 February 2022 [before Russia entered the country on Feb. 24, 2022], including:
at least 3,407 civilians
4,400 Ukrainian forces personnel
6,500 members of armed groups
"Up to 39,000 people have been injured, an estimated 7,000-9,000 of them civilians."

True, but the call from the Russian soldier to his mom was real.

You support the genocide of ethnic Russians in the donbas BEFORE the invasion??

I don't endorse genocide anytime. I read what is going on with this invasion and I see genocide going on right now. K*****g women and children and it seems you are for this action. Like I said you are either a soviet propagandist or a supporter of their action. I have to say that this situation is getting very close to ww3 and
it damn sure needs to be cooled down.
I have read this. What part have I missed?

If you need to ask, it's above your pay grade.

Ukraine began shelling almost immediately in an attempt to shock the peoples of the donbas. They k**led thousands and continue to this day. The Ukraine military has been shelling civilians since 2008.
That is genocide.
And now, American generals are fully admitting that Russia has been very deliberate in avoiding civilian structures unless the Ukraine military are using then to fire/launch/hide from.
