It shouldn’t take an academic study to prove that it’s a bad idea to let violent criminals back out on the street with little or no bail. But it’s the kind of lunacy that’s so jaw-droppingly stupid just on the face of it that, of course, the left adopted it and claimed it was an unquestionably sound policy that would lead to lower crime. So to quote Dr. Phil, how’s that workin’ out for ya?

https://www.foxnews.com/us/california-violent-crime-tripled-suspects-walked-free-withou-bail-reform-study

A study by the Yolo County, California, District Attorney’s office found that California’s “Zero Bail” policies have been (surprise!) an unmitigated disaster. The study found that 78% of repeat offenders who were let out on low or no bail were arrested again, compared to 46% who’d had to post bail. They were arrested more than once by a margin of 62% to 25%. The low-to-no bail criminals’ reoffenses “resulted in felony charges 90% more often – and they were accused of three times as many violent crimes.”

Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig said, "I mean, we have more people being shot at, stabbed, assaulted, robbed, beaten. These are real victims – and the numbers are staggering under zero bail." He said the study proves that “zero bail is a completely failed policy."

Under most circumstances, you’d think that the legislature would rush to change the policy. But this is California, where “Doubling down on failed policies” is the unofficial state motto.

The "Zero Bail" idea is so stunningly stupid one might think that PermaDummy, Woodhead, or brainless Milosia were the 'parents'.

How about we first get a real report from an unbiased entity, other then FOX. Here's what I'm for, consequences of actions, therefore if they go out and get arrested again, the penalties and times served will be doubled, also not to sit in jail but on some kind of hard labor work detail, along with community service, maybe they should go back to their home town and help fix it up, clean it up, not to mention some kind of self-improvement class to learn a laboring sk**l. This cost can be offset by their labor. They are criminals because they know no other way.

Just because a source is rated either right or left doesn't mean the story is not factual. Those ratings are generally done by left leaning fact checkers who come with their own bias. Those ratings generally reflect the leanings of the commentators who are opinion "slots". They are criminals because they CHOSE to be criminals and as long as snowflakes like you make excuses for bad behavior you will get more bad behavior. My dad lived through the Great Depression. Not only were they hungry all the time but they never stole or accepted relief. It's called morals.

It is madness! First you defund the police, then you let prosecutors go easy on the perpetrators, allow them to go bail free, and then claim this will solve the crime wave. Do these lefties understand criminal behavior? The answer is no!

So criminals know no other way? Sounds like an educational failure to me. So who's in charge of educational opportunities? That's right the democrats and their sacred unions.

Criminals are criminals because they are to lazy to work

Here's an idea: ANY crime that includes use of a weapon or results in bodily harm receives the death penalty. The 3 strikes rule: Anyone arrested a fourth time for ANY crime receives the death penalty. Caveat: Anyone can make a mistake so a non-violent first offender should receive a light sentence during which counselling would be provided but this would still count as strike one.

Criminals are criminals because they were never taught RESPECT for authority figures, other peoples' belongings and lives or self-respect for themselves.

I also don't think "zero bail" is a good idea either. It should be repealed ASAP and hopefully no other state or County approves it.
