Ok.. So we have established through previous posts that Jesus was of the tribe of Judah..

What I want to talk about NOW is the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse.. and an opinion on how often they've shown themselves throughout our history.

Think about it.. and In order of appearance:

"The first horse, a white one, seems bent on conquest;(Revelation 6:2). Its rider wears a crown and holds a bow. Some people have attributed the rider of this horse as the person of Jesus, as later in Revelation 19 Jesus rides a white horse."

Question:
Conquests of what exactly, land country or religion??
Seems most of our wars have to do with the aforementioned 3.. what do you think?

"The Second Horse, The next horse, a fiery red one, takes peace from the Earth, He carries a large sword and blatantly represents war and violence. This makes sense to follow after the conquest-driven horse and rider. Conquest often leads to war. (Revelation 6:4).(Revelation 6:5-6)."

Hmmm.. How many conflicts has this country alone had... during our history, Revolutionary war, war of 1812, Civil War... WW1.. WW11 Now possibly WW111 in between we've had Korea, Viet Nam, Gulf wars.. Ukraine/Russia, China vs U.S. & Taiwan.. etc etc et al

"The 3rd Horsemen: The Black Horse and Horseman

Famine: This rider carries a pair of scales in his hand and seems to refer to a famine that will wipe out wheat and barley supplies, and spare oil and wine reserves. Some scholars attribute this famine to the wars that occurred before it. Throughout history, those who tend to farm and contribute to food supplies yield such duties to fight in wars. Because of this, the food supplies suffer, and entire civilizations collapse. (Revelation 6:5-6)."

"The 4th Horsemen: The Pale Horse and Horseman

Naturally, when food supplies dwindle and wars break out, death follows. The pale horse has the power of famine, plague, and to k**l by the sword and by the wild beasts (Revelation 6:8).
Sickness and famine often break out as a result of warfare, and this horse stands as no exception. (Revelation 6:8)."

"Have the four horsemen already come?

Historians can often point to the fourteenth century as a time that echoed several of these apocalyptic events. The crusades echoed the conquest of the first rider, a great many wars broke out such as the Hundred Years War, and famine and death overtook the land because of the Bubonic plague and the Great Famine of 1315-1317. Nevertheless, history does have a way of repeating itself. Even if the events that t***spired in the past reflected those in Revelation, we have yet to experience these again."

It's an interesting question... Something I've wondered about for a long while now. It'll be nice to see your replies!

Larai, The Old Testament Hebrew prophet Zechariah, who wrote (520-518 BC) precedes Revelation (95-96 AD) six hundred years in discussing the horses of four colors, - if you would like to add this to your puzzle of God's meaning:

The Vision of the Horses

Zechariah 1:7-9
7 "On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, the month of Shebat, in the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to the prophet Zechariah son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo.
8 "I looked out into the night and saw a man riding on a red horse. He was standing among the myrtle trees in the hollow, and behind him were red, sorrel, and white horses.
9 "What are these, my lord?” I asked. And the angel who was speaking with me replied, “I will show you what they are."

The Vision of the Four Char**ts

Zechariah 6:1-8

1 And again I lifted up my eyes and saw four char**ts coming out from between two mountains - mountains of bronze.
2 The first char**t had red horses, the second black horses,
3 the third white horses, and the fourth dappled horses - all of them strong.

4 So I inquired of the angel who was speaking with me, "What are these, my lord?"

5 And the angel told me, “These are the four spirits,a of heaven, going forth from their station before the Lord of all the earth.
6 The one with the black horses is going toward the land of the north, the one with the white horses toward the west,b and the one with the dappled horses toward the south.”

7 As the strong horses went out, they were eager to go and patrol the earth; and the LORD said, "Go and patrol the earth." So they patrolled the earth.
8 Then the LORD summoned me and said, “Behold, those going to the land of the north have given rest to My Spirit in the land of the north."

I realize that but since the last couple topics I've been replying on have been political that had Morphed into Christ's origins.. seemed reasonable, given the state of our country to bring up the 4 horseman of the apocalypse... as they are completely relevant to the current state of the U.S. and the rest of the world.. Between burning down of meat, chicken and other food production to "Mysterious Fires" seemed also relevant to the horseman in charge of Famine.. Of course there is the other alternative of just not commenting on things you don't like, you know, like we tell liberals to do, just scroll on by or change the channel or not going to places they know they are goin to be offended by!!

I think the topic is timely as Obama through Biden is doing everything within his devious power and maneuvering to force this country as well as the EU from a virtual proxy war into a literal ground war against Russia in Ukraine, which could only resort in WWIII, - and a nuclear WWIII at that!!

I'm sure there are those on OPP who have studied the four horsemen of the Apocalypse in greater detail than I.

Are the horsemen in Zechariah 6 the same horsemen as in Revelation 6?

In Zechariah, the prophet Zechariah is visited by the pre-incarnate Christ, the O.T. "Angel of the Lord," regarding them.

In Revelation, the apostle John receives a vision including them from the risen Christ, now residing in the throne room of Heaven.

The coloration of the horses in Zechariah 6 and Revelation 6 are the same. Those in Zechariah are sent out to patrol the earth, gathering information, and those in Revelation are sent out with judgments, and death.

In Matthew 23:34–36, Jesus mentions Zechariah in His condemnation of the first-century Jewish leaders: "I am sending you prophets and sages and teachers. Some of them you will k**l and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town. And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar." Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, all this will come on this generation."

In Jesus' reference to the prophet Zechariah, He reveals how Zechariah died - he was murdered in the temple courtyard. The two martyrs Jesus mentions in Matthew 23, Abel and Zechariah, are the first and last martyrs, chronologically, in the Old Testament period.

In the text of the last book in the Bible, The Revelation of Jesus to the Apostle John, the main distinguishing feature of the four horses is their color; white for conquest, red for war, black for pestilence and/or famine, and pale [dappled] gray (from ‘pallor’) for death.

The 1st three riders carry a symbol of their respective missions; conquest with a bow, war with a sword, and a set of balances for pestilence/famine. The pale rider of death carries no obvious weapon or symbol in the Biblical account; he simply unleashes hell.

Revelation, chapter 6:

The First Seal— Conquest on a White Horse
Then I saw when the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures saying as with a voice of thunder, “Come.” I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.
The Second Seal—The Red Horse of War
When He broke the second seal, I heard the second living creature saying, “Come.” And another, a red horse, went out; and to him who sat on it, it was granted to take peace from the earth, and that men would slay one another; and a great sword was given to him.
The Third Seal—Famine on a Black Horse
When He broke the third seal, I heard the third living creature saying, “Come.” I looked, and behold, a black horse; and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand...”
The Fourth Seal—Death on a Pale Gray/Green Horse
When the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come.” I looked, and behold, an ashen horse; and he who sat on it had the name Death; and Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to k**l with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by the wild beasts of the earth.

Zechariah 1:8; 6:2–3, 6 The Horses of Four Colors, Char**ts Revealed by The Angel of the Lord to Zechariah

Zechariah 6:1-8...A vision final subjugation of the world, God's judgement on the nations of the world, especially focusing on Babylon (the north country) vs.8, which revolted three years later and was devastated and depopulated by the Persians (modern Iranians).

This vision may also depict the final subjugation of the world, especially Babylon, ...the Daughter of Babylon, during the Tribulation depicted in Revelation 11;15 and Revelation l8:21.
Persians are now called who?? Iran!

The horsemen also appear here in Zechariah 1, in the context of Israel returning to God with their hearts:

Zechariah 1:8: "I saw at night, and behold, a man was riding on a red horse, and he was standing among the myrtle trees which were in the ravine, with red, sorrel and white horses behind him.
9 Then I said, “My lord, what are these?” And the angel who was speaking with me said to me, “I will show you what these are.”
10 And the man who was standing among the myrtle trees answered and said, “These are those whom the LORD has sent to patrol the earth.”
11 So they answered "the angel of the LORD" who was standing among the myrtle trees and said, “We have patrolled the earth, and behold, all the earth is peaceful and quiet.”

And then is shown four horns and four craftsmen, which appear to be connected to the four horn of the Brazen Altar:

Zechariah 1:18-21 "Then I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, there were four horns.
So I said to the angel who was speaking with me, “What are these?” And he answered me, “These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel and Jerusalem.”
Then the LORD showed me four craftsmen.
I said, “What are these coming to do?” And he said, “These are the horns which have scattered Judah so that no man lifts up his head; but these craftsmen have come to terrify them, to throw down the horns of the nations who have lifted up their horns against the land of Judah in order to scatter it.”

These four horns appear to operate in a similar manner as the four horsemen in Revelation. The four horsemen in Zechariah chapter 1 appear to be the very same horsemen in Zechariah chapter 6, but are they also the 4 horns of the Brazen Altar? There is a final passage in Zechariah to consider:

Zechariah 2:3 And behold, the angel who was speaking with me was going out, and another angel was coming out to meet him,
4 and said to him, “Run, speak to that young man, saying, ‘Jerusalem will be inhabited without walls because of the multitude of men and cattle within it.
5 ‘For I,’ declares the LORD, ‘will be a wall of fire around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.’”
6 “Ho there! Flee from the land of the north,” declares the LORD, “for I have dispersed you as the four winds of the heavens,” declares the LORD.

So - the four horns of the Brazen Altar are associated with the four spirits or four winds of heaven, and they appear to be also connected to the four horsemen in Zechariah 1 & 6, and Revelation 6.

There is much to consider in these passages in conjunction with what is yet to come upon the earth. It is obvious that storm clouds are rapidly gathering around this formerly blessed nation, and they will encompass the entire world.

The U.S., more than any other nation has been blessed, and yet, we have been lulled for sixty years, through personal sin, apathy, and indifference, to allow our schools to expel God from its doors, and allowed our children to grow to adulthood as citizens without the knowledge and respect of God that has, in their adulthood prompted them to allow our nation to forsake God's laws of decency, law and order, and all that binds a culture together.

God has been trying to get our attention for years. It is God, for example, who controls the weather, not CO2, which is plant food, without which there will be no vegetation upon the earth.

Low CO2 concentration starves trees and plants of the food they need to achieve their full growth potential via photosynthesis. Additional benefits of increased CO2: Increased photosynthesis ("CO2 fertilization"). Plants grow faster, and with less stress and less water.

The weather is the least of this world's problems at the moment, although it will grow darker as the hour grows later... and it is God who will send the four horsemen to play a major role in God's chastisement. It would be of great benefit to mankind to recognize their approaching hoofbeats before they appear, and kneel in apology and repentance to our Creator.

Bad Bob: A Scripture For Your Day:

Psalm 37:13 "The Lord shall laugh at him: for he foresees that his day will come."

Psalm 52:1-9 He Who Laughs Last

"The righteous will see and fear; they will laugh at you, saying,
“Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold
but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others.”
(Psalm 52:6-7)

Christians aren’t expected to boorishly laugh as do the heathen, right? Is it not always poor form to laugh at the misfortunes of others — even those who invite calamity upon themselves by their own foolish actions and cruel deeds? Isn’t it true that we’re not even supposed to wish “unfortune” upon our worst enemies — those who torment us for our faith, belittle our Christianity, and despise our God?

After all, the Founder and Finisher of our faith has commanded us to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, do good to those who h**e us and pray for those who spitefully use us — even those who persecute us.
(Matthew 5:44)

True! But there is also a deep, God-implanted sense in the core of our being which sees injustice inflicted in the world — both the world at large as well as the smaller world of our private lives — and cries out for the day when an all-knowing and all-powerful God will set aright every wrong. We, of course, rejoice when evildoers see the error of their ways, bow their knees in repentance and make right the wrongs they have committed, but when they persist in portraying spiritual blindness, does not our innate sense of fairness yearns for the innate righteousness at the core of God’s character to hold the wicked accountable for their wickedness.

And that day will come. Sooner or later, it will come. It may be swift and sure, or it may take a lifetime — or it may wait until justice is meted out at the Great White Throne judgment — but that day will come.

When David wrote this psalm, he had just survived betrayal at the hands of Doeg the Edomite. David was on the run from King Saul, literally just a step ahead of certain death, and he sought respite and refreshment with the priests of the Lord in the city of Nob. (I Samuel 21-22) But Doeg spied David there and ratted him out to Saul. Saul promptly marched on Nob, and using Doeg as his executioner, k**led all eighty-five of the Lord’s priests along with the entire village when he couldn’t find David. It was that tragic story that provided the context for this hard-edged psalm of David as he foresees Doeg receiving his Divine comeuppance.

Dirty rotten Doeg owned that moment, but it was David who got the last laugh. Although it didn’t come immediately — at the end of the day, it is David who belongs to the ages as the man after God’s heart, while Doeg lives in infamy, his name enshrined in ignominy as Saul’s henchman, ratfink, snitch, and murderer of the Lord’s priests!

And so it mostly goes in God’s economy for believers in every age - because of God's patience and longsuffering. We may face trials of many kinds, persecution for our faith, humiliation, injustice and even death, but the last laugh will be ours, for that day will come as surely as the dawn when God’s justice will be satisfied. While some may grieve at the slowness of that day, don’t fret, for one day we will stand in awestruck reverence as Divine justice and righteousness are vindicated — and on that day, in a way that is wholly appropriate, we will laugh!

I actually, just finished RE-Reading Revelations all 22 chapters of it.. The Only major name besides our father and his son Jesus was Judah.. there was a lot to it, but while I understood it, My Aunt who knows the bible front to back asked me to explain what I understood and sadly I could not.. there is a LOT of depth of revelations.. and just because I understood it, doesn't mean that I can explain what I understood.. I figure that was God's Hand, & Maybe someday, I'll be able to explain what I understood about it.. but the bottom line, as far as my topic matter, I feel we have seen the 4 horsemen over the world's history Way more than once! I feel we have felt those 4 horsemen multiple times through out our world's history & I feel there will be more times in our lifetime!

Larai, because God knows your heart, He is aware of your understanding.

"Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear and obey what is written in it, because the time is near" (Revelation 1:3).

It would take hours, IMHO, to explain one's understanding of the entire twenty two chapters of the book of Revelation.

For example, Chuck Missler has a video series of 26 separate videos (each lasting over one hour) on the book of Revelation, available for viewing on YouTube.

It is not clear if the four horsemen follow each other sequentially or if they ride forth simultaneously. If they follow each other sequentially, an unknown amount of time elapses between their rides.

Because the horses, their colors and purpose are initially introduced in the Old Testament by the prophet Zechariah, I too believe that the spiritual entities they represent have previously strode across this earth, for instance, in the destruction of Hitler, before he could destroy all the Jewish people; although the devastation, and regional destruction that is described in Revelation for the last days will be greater than any previously known.

By Judah, do you mean Jacob's son, or the land of Judah, i.e., the southern kingdom which encompasses Jerusalem?

Jesus Christ will return as the Lion of the tribe of Judah. The earliest reference to Jesus as a lion can be found in Genesis, where Jacob (Israel) delivers parting words to each of his sons. When he arrives at Judah, his fourth born, Jacob says,

"Judah, your brothers shall praise you;your hand shall be on the neck of your enemies; your father’s sons shall bow down to you. 'Judah is a lion’s whelp; from the prey, my son, you have gone up. He couches, he lies down as a lion, and as a lion, who dares rouse him up? ‘The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until Shiloh comes" (Genesis 49:8-10).

"And one of the elders said to me, “Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that He can open the scroll and its seven seals” (Revelation 5:5).
