It seems the human race is regressing rather than progressing.
Infanticide was common in most societies after the historical era began, ancient Greece, ancient Rome, the Phoenicians, ancient China, ancient Japan, Aboriginal Australia, Native Americans, and Native Alaskans to name some well known civilizations. Infanticide became forbidden in Europe and the Near East during the 1st millennium. Although the Greeks and the Romans put the babies where people could come and adopt them if they wanted to do that.
