Years back I watched a European conference on comparative analysis of “executive pay ranges.”
Almost all European airline execs showed up. No Americans.
The American execs were 30 to $60 million per year. The European execs earned 1.5 to 4 million per year. They were asked “why” is your pay so much less ?
They answered it was all they needed to have a nice home, car, and family expenses. Amazing how the Lust for money manifests itself in America.
