Be it partisanship, or lack of representation I'm sure there are many different opinions on this subject, and I am interested to hear the conservative view.

The biggest problem with the Government today is a stupid and apathetic e*****rate. The cast of clowns in DC did not v**e themselves into office. They were elected and get re-elected by i***ts. The average American v**er has little conception of how government works, frequently has no idea what his or her representatives name is, much less how said representative v**ed on the issues, which is about right, since Joe Average v**er is clueless on what the issues are also. Given the appalling number of functional illiterates in the e*****rate, you have the problem. V**ers whose working knowledge of the government that affects pretty much every aspect of their lives is limited to what they glean from wh**ever lamestream media source happens to occupy the same channel as their favorite football team. People who can name the contestants on American Idol, but have no idea who their state and US Congressmen and Senators are. Every e******n is the equivalent of letting a cretin program your computer.

And these are the v**ers who v**e for the representative (and party) who promises them the most STUFF. The gimmee-gimmee-gimmee v**ers. I have some Tocqueville quotes I'll post on Tuesday. Of quite a predictive nature.

This is an issue I would agree 100% with you on. The average American is openly ignorant of the way our government works, therefore don't even bother v****g/ v**e based off of emotion. I find it troubling that I often have to explain to the people in my life who would best represent our interests just to receive a casual apolitical response.

From "Democracy in America?" You might also Google Frederic Bastiat's "The Law." You can read it in it's entirety for free. Alexis de Tocqueville did have some interesting comments.

Their v**es are the e*******l equivalent of buying a lotto ticket. They have no idea what they have won or lost until after the drawing, in this case, the v**e counting.

The ONLY problem, at least the one that prevents any solutions, is the selling of America's political system to the highest bidder. Politicians have always been for sale, but we have accepted the sales as normal and justified.

Were the American people to decide differently, they'd have to NOT v**e for those who raised insane amounts of money, but then, I suppose sanity is relative. If it seems perfectly reasonable for people who whine about the terrible tax burden they bear, to spend billions to try and get that "problem" fixed, then it isn't insane at all.

I don't see a problem with the politicians, necessarily, more so with the system. If we fix the most obvious problems with the way our government works I'm confident that more competent politicians will arise.

Professional politicians ARE the most obvious problem, or rather, the second most obvious. I have already identified the most obvious as being the i***ts who keep re-electing them and expecting a different result.
