Why d**g Q***n story hour?

In the past few years there have been a number of events such as d**g Q***n bingo, story hour d**g and burlesque shows. To me it seems somewhat silly but so does stock car racing, hip hop concerts and hoedowns. I have no compulsion to attend nor criticism of those who do. The right seems melting down over these events suggesting they are designed to g***m or corrupt children. They have the same frenzied approach toward library books that touch on g****r identity, r****m or sexual preferences. The idea that having a d**g Q***n read the cat in the hat to kids is going to turn them q***r is ridiculous. That said it does have a specific purpose. People in marginalized communities have a long history of facing h**e, bullying, violence and ridicule. When people are exposed to LGBQ people in a positive light it becomes more difficult for them to join this history of bigotry and abuse and they learn to accept others as individuals.

As a kid their was a stereotypical hippie that lived in the neighborhood. He and my Dad, a Second World War combat veteran, got along well. In my early teens I found it strange that my father didn’t b***h about him the way my friends parents did and I asked him why. His response taught me two lessons I never have forgotten. “ He is a nice interesting guy and I enjoy his company but I wouldn’t be particularly proud of him if he was my son.” This told me to be kind to and learn from people who are different than I am but to be true to my own values and beliefs. This is the lesson that the fundamentalist ministers should be preaching to their flocks, not h**e and intolerance.

No, it's not about apples and oranges. It's about SEX.

The only reason the very small, very minor, but very loud and obnoxious gay community is pushing this d********g thing of "reading books to children" is because they want to push having sex unnaturally with members of their own g****r and demand that everyone go along with it. It's teaching kids that sex without love is okay. IT IS NOT OKAY!

My concern with you L*****t taking a word like "tolerance" sprinkling it heavily with verbicide, changes its true meaning entirely. Tolerance, defined in your lexicon, means that we're now called to tolerate & embrace behaviors that forever have been intolerable.
