A Florida man stabbed his wife to death and then cut his own neck in a horrific murder-suicide in front of their three young children Monday, officials said.
Deputies from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home in Deltona just after 6 p.m. after a neighbor told them that a 10-year-old boy ran to his house for help because his stepfather had stabbed his mother.
The neighbor told cops he entered the residence and found a woman and a man on the floor — along with two unharmed children — before calling 911.
Deputies pronounced the woman, Byanca Cruz, dead at the scene, while the male, Oscar Salazar, died shortly after being t***sported to a hospital with a self-inflicted knife wound to his neck.
Salazar was the biological father of the two smaller children, ages 2 and 5, officials said.

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said the couple had been arguing over the behavior of the 5-year-old when Salazar stabbed his wife to death.
Chitwood noted that Salazar was in the country illegally and had assumed the identity of an uninvolved man who had his truck and identification stolen several years ago in Texas.
Salazar had two prior arrests for two domestic assault involving his wife — including one while she was pregnant in 2016, Chitwood said.

The 10-year-old was placed in his father’s custody, while the younger children are being cared for by their maternal grandmother.
“The children will need a lot of love and support as they deal with this tragedy today and for the rest of their lives,” Chitwood posted on Twitter. “I am just so sorry for their pain.”
