I can’t think of any other positive reason.

The good news about the people who wear masks, mostly government workers, is they help to protect our environment; they keep their bad breath away from our space and their speech will tend to be garbled. Gaslighting will be hindered by their garbled speech because of a mask. So just let them alone to enjoy their delusion and "chicken little" beliefs. Wh**ever makes them "feel special."

The garbled speech really got to me. I'll explain that in a second. I'll bet lots of people will be trading hearing aids in now that the p******c is over. It's really been over since Jan. 21. When the Dems no longer needed it. Why trade in hearing aids? No more garbled speech, so they'll hear okay, never were hearing impaired. A personal observation, Monday I met a new aide, she was wearing a mask in the beginning. I don't know why maybe she didn't want to bring germs to her kids, I don't question, as some elders said about a****a, "Let the children play." I didn't listen to them, but she's not an existential threat. Anyway, a little later I saw her without the mask, she was so much prettier. I'll bet 50% of female maskers are. About the chicken little beliefs I agree 100% But not wh**ever makes them feel special because Gen. Z or the pajama people would rather get paid to stay home.
