The report by Pew Research Center and the General Social Survey said that Christians are largely leaving religion behind to become atheists, agnostics or what the report calls “nothing in particular.”

As Jesus has told us in His words, our Savior who is our Lord God in the flesh, the ones who fall by the wayside are those "who have no root." Most of Christianity one sees today is a "works-righteousness kind," a kind that is not rooted in the Gospel that "Christ alone is my righteousness." The real Christian is one who believes that his/her salvation is by "grace alone," and, the righteousness of Christ is imputed and not infused. Making Christianity a "humanistic religion," one where a system of works you have to do to fulfill a prescription, is no message of God's grace. Those that have been suckered or "bewitched" by a "works righteousness Christianity" will eventually, like Karl Marx did when he became discouraged with being priest and conversio, fall away into atheism.
