From Wednesday to Sunday, Vladimir Putin’s military forces saw at least 338 pieces of important military hardware – from fighter jets to tanks to trucks – destroyed, damaged or captured, according to numbers from the open source intelligence website Oryx, as Ukraine’s forces have bolted through Russian-held territory in an offensive that has stunned the Russians in its speed and breadth.

Ukraine’s top military commander claimed on Sunday that more than 3,000 square kilometers (1,158 square miles) of territory had been retaken by his country’s forces since the beginning of September. And for more perspective, just “since Wednesday, Ukraine has recaptured territory at least twice the size of Greater London,” the British Defense Ministry said Monday.

Ukrainian reports say Putin’s troops are fleeing east to the Russian border in wh**ever t***sport they can find, even taking cars from the civilian population in the areas they had captured since the start of the war in February.

In their wake they leave hundreds of pieces of the Russian war machine, which since Putin’s so-called “special military operation” commenced, has not come close to living up to its pre-war billing as one of the world’s great powers.

These Russian losses are the accumulation of a multitude of existing problems that are now colliding head-on with a Ukrainian military that has been patient, methodical and infused with billions of dollars of the Western military equipment that Russia cannot match.

And without a drastic, and potentially unconventional intervention from Putin, the Ukrainian victories are likely to accelerate, analysts say.

Many of Russia’s problems – poor and inflexible leadership, sour troop morale, inadequate logistics and hardware beset by maintenance issues – have been evident since the beginning stages of the war more than seven months ago.

The Russian military’s hollow core – including tanks that were easy prey for Ukrainian ground troops and trucks that didn’t have the right tires to traverse Ukraine’s landscape – was quickly exposed by tactics ill-suited to the blitzkrieg Putin had planned.

Remember that 64-kilometer (40-mile) convoy that stalled on the way to the capital of Kyiv and was shredded by Ukrainian defenders?

As that convoy stalled, reports filtered out that Russian troops had significant morale problems – some didn’t even know they were in Ukraine, or if they did, why they were there. As the fighting intensified, Ukrainian forces targeted Russian leadership, k*****g generals and colonels who would have been expected to rally the Russian forces.

And the Russians certainly needed stronger leadership if accounts of troop hardships are to be believed.

Little bitty Ukraine is armed to the teeth with modern US weapons. It is a statement to US firepower but says nothing else, oh yes, there is the part about Russia actually fighting the US, not Ukraine. And that doesn't concern you

It is still Ukrainian soldiers, not American soldiers who are fighting and dying to push the Russians back. Afghanistan showed that American equipment is nothing without good soldiers.

Ukraine is not itty bitty. I think they are bigger than Germany.
Remember the 60 mile long convoy going to Kiev? It stoped because of the Russians selling diesel on the black market.
Last week I saw a YouTube vidio that was made bt the Ukrainian government. They said the howitzers were running out of amino. I put it down as propaganda, but I am not so sure now. The Russians troops do not have any cold weather gear , and it is getting cold at night. I also saw a clip from CNN that showed the Ukarainians filling up at tank that had run out of gas. Corruption is so rampant I bet the Ukarainians will be buying howitzer ammo on the black market. I just hope the Ukarainians can keep their offense up. No one deserves to have their country invaded.

Crimea and the donbas aren't really theirs and the people in those areas are h**ed by the Ukarainians, as you call them.

Not at all. Fighting Putin is the only thing you and I agree on. I merely do not like how Joe has gone about it. Also while I admire Ukraine, I am not Polyanish about the casualties and damages they are still taking from Russia.

The Ukrainians are fighting and dying in a war of attrition. I think the US should have done more to help them win. From our viewpoint, a long war where the Russian war machine is bled dry might be great, but getting it over with is what Ukraine needs.

What good does bleeding Russia dry do us. Outside of Ukraine we will or should not ever engage with them militarily. It is not productive. Russia was building a relationship with EU. This will disrupt the entire world and Putin is Not unprepared. The Brics nations stand with him and are fully willing to shuck the currently failing dollar anyway and Biden is happy to take care of that. This whole think is devolving into chaos which will benefit nobody. Come winter the EU will choose a side and it won't be us. The world economy will become more chaotic. Stability lies in helping Russia build its economy and the EU's in tandem.

And we have GOT to scrap this stupid green new deal. We can see what it has done already. IT WILL NOT WORK, because 80% of the world won't participate to any significant degree!! All it does it weaken us, all while Biden wages war with Russia.

Is there anything more stupid on the planet?????

Of course, they are. Tucker Carlson on Fox is a Russian sympathizer so naturally, conservatives on OPP are. That's because cons here on OPP think for themselves so long as someone on Fox thinks it first for them...

So your argument is that we should have let Russia roll over Ukraine cuz you cons are afraid of Putin? Well, I'm afraid of Putin too but I don't think KISSING his ass is the answer. Simply cuz Trump would why are you?
